new games which comes out nowadays needs everytime better connection to work properly in online, like il-2FB, we get bigger skins etc, i think its bad way where we are heading, cos internet connections cannot keep up the phase with games. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif, for myself its no problem, got enuff conn but for someones it is. it makes ppl warp etc.

and for eyecandy, the rate how new games demand more power from PC is quite fast too id say. its all about marketing and keeping things rolling eh?

It's called progress /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Plus you don't have to have skin downloads on, you can turn down the eye-candy etc etc.

That's why PC games are so great, they are scalable.

I guess DSL will be a standard soon, and anything below will be discarde because too slow...Sorry for those who live in places where they still can´t have a fast connection...

JG5_UnKle is right, IMO. Besides, hardware is constantly getting cheaper to meet the demands of newer games and technologies on the software front. Besides, I would want for current games to look like those of 4 or 5 years past.

Visual enhancements are part of the "immersive" experience.

I hope verizon or AT&T starts offering in our area, cause I am running out of choices.

Games always have pushed the pc envelop, and they will continue to do so. No longer are games being made that will fit the best current systems, but they are looking beyond that. FB is a good example of that philosophy ... and more games will head for that direction.

Its a good thing for those who can keep up and afford, its less good news for people (like myself) who cannot keep up and always lag behind, almost literaly.

I'm actually amazed that FB is running so well on my system, which (as I stated elsewhere) is on the brink of extinction, but lack of funds is trying to stretch its livelyhood a little more. It will be a while before I can afford anything remotely looking or working like a P4.

Maybe this will help in reducing online grafix load (as well as offline) beyond what you can do with the FB grafix menu which combines many things together...posted in FMB forum...

FB reads the "conf" file on startup and when switching between DirectX and OpenGL.

Most amazing frame~rate boost is set TexQual=0. Recomended for those having severe problems with landscape.

Compared to some other games dial up handles this one fairly well.
