Hey guys I found another hands on preview, but be warned there is quite a negative tone to this article!

Enjoy!

Yah there was some negativity in it!!! The guy didn't really like the game that much....don't see why. I would be on cloud nine if i got to even watch someone play the game, let alone play it myself.

Wow, suddenly this game isn't looking as attractive. The "memory access error" thing is a HUGE horrible turn off for me. No invisible boundries pleeeaaase! And not being able to kill a civilian without losing health is horrible, too!

I find the fact that you're upset about not being able to kill innocent people without consequences (simulated or not) a little disturbing. Do you want to talk about it?

There has to be a penalty for killing civilians because it wasn't the Hashshashin way,It's just like Mulim or whatever his name is giving you a telepathic slap to the head...

As for the memory error thing, I'm guessing it's just for the sake of the demo that the jurnos were playing. I could be wrong but I hope I'm not.

Jeeze he moaned alot with the sci-fi didnt he lol. That doesnt really bother me that much and the fact that you cant always keep killing civilains is fine. I can still run passed people and push em! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

He struck me as a bad journo, well maybe not.

But surely he should be reviewing what the game has, not what it doesn't.

He doesn't like the Sci-Fi, but its there, and it has purpose, thats almost as dumb as saying that he doesn't like the story >.>

How could someone dislike the futuristic element so much. When he commented on other things(not very often)he said they were brillant.

Did you notice the picture of Altair stabbing a guard from a horse?

//Quote:
The animations are seamlessly linked and utterly gorgeous and the game controls in combat are actually quite realisitic. Altair is a master swordsman, but even he can't hack his way through a good parry and the best way to battle opponents is either to scare them off with a flurry of blows or to wait for them to attack and unleash a devastating counter.

These counters look awesome and Alex told me that a lot of the animations were motion-captured and that he himself acted as the capture subject for a lot of the fights. It was hard to believe, watching a highly trained assassin on the screen unleash a flurry of scripted elbow-throws before twisting back on himself and stabbing his opponent twice and having to realise that I was sat next to the man who'd had to practice that.

I ever so slightly edged away from the bearded French-Canadian on my left.

//End quote.

I thought that was a very good preview.

he wasnt biased about it at all. he noted all the good and bad points, the bad points being what i was thinking was wrong in the game in the first place, and he backed them up also.

No game is perfect.

It was quite simply horrible.
The "reviewer" was only talking about Patrice's accent and clothing.
What the hell? He hardly mentiond the game at all.
What an axehole...

For starters, Altair is restricted in who he can attack and hitting a non-soldier will strip Altair of a third of his health, which takes a bit away from the way that the game has been billed as having a sandbox design.
this really annoyed me,cant u kill anyone u want without ur health going down ?

guys the sci-fi thing is tied into the next two games that ubi will be making. atleast one of the next AC/s will be placed in the future. Rumor is that you are either a descendant of Altair or someone who is looking into a descendants genetic code. thats why when you die it just says "error. synchronization lost..."

Membernametaken's Preview Summarization

Hell of a preview, so far... the guy is witty and funny. He's not making fun of anyone; if Patrice were to read the first page, he would probably chuckle.

What was amazing was that even in this early beta stage of the game, Altair's animations matched the environment perfectly ľ his hands always falling in the correct places to climb with.

Sounds like he's enjoying watching the game, so far... done with the second page and I haven't heard any negativity.

The dying man in Altair's arms was laid on the floor and Altair leant over him. The two discussed philosophy and political viewpoints, with Altair pointing out that the man had invaded and starved the people of Acre.

"I did not starve them, I put food into storage for the tough times ahead in an effort to protect them. My men are here to serve them!" cried the dying lord, fluctuating suddenly between lying on the floor, standing and struggling with Altair.

"Regardless of motive, your actions have been cruel and without merit. Your time has come to an end!"Ł said Altair gently, releasing the body and standing back up.

This is the first thing in this preview that is new to me. In other trailers, the conversations between the targets and Altair are skipped over. It's nice to read about some of the dialogue...

The final straw came when later, in the hands-on segment of the preview (which I swear I'm getting to), I ran into an invisible wall and the game told me "Memory Access Error"Ł in a way which made it clear was actually an intended part of the game design.

That's the first bit of negativity I found from this guy and it's a common complaint. Personally, i'm fine with it because, in other games, they just use the invisible wall or a mountain that is impossible to scale, preventing you from continuing.

Think about the term "sandbox" for a minute... in a sandbox, there's a big area to play in, but it's BOXED OFF, is it not? Even a sandbox has it's boundaries and the "Memory Access Error" is a unique way to represent that invisible wall you see all too often in videogames.

...Altair is restricted in who he can attack and hitting a non-soldier will strip Altair of a third of his health...

This is the first notable thing I read on page 4 and unfortunately, this news slightly disappoints me. While I was planning on not attacking anyone that didn't deserve it, the first time through; I was looking forward to just going on a rampage in my second play-through. Hopefully, after you play through it once, there will be options to switch things like this before you start. From the sounds of it, though, the health will regenerate so, this just forces you to be a bit more careful when attacking civies.

In response to this gripe from the previewer, someone on the dev team had this to say:

"Simply, we wanted the game to be śAssassin's Creed' and we were worried that if Altair could attack anyone then it would become śMass Murderer's Creed'. We wanted the fights to feel a bit special."Ł

He went on to complain some more about the futuristic elements taking him out of the game but on the next page he mentions "...the 100 sidequests" and that made me pretty happy.

The rest of the preview just concludes the whole thing and summarizes his feelings about the session. He's not being negative, he's being unbiased. Hard to find amongst gaming journalists, these days. Nice preview.

membernametaken, thanks for taking the time to compile the segments and showing that journalist wrote a great article. All games have there boundaries all and no video game deserves a score of 10 imo.

I thought it was a rather poor preview. I am happy though that he for the most part, enjoyed the combat and controls, but the only thing that irked him seemed to be the futuristic aspect. However considering he doesn't know the full story yet, it really isn't for him to decide if it is well intergrated. The Sci-fi stuff could prove to make the game better for all we know.

I can't say I'm dissapointed with not being able to kill all civilains, after all the do make sense...it isn't Murderer's Creed after all. Though I think that after you beat the game it should automatically be something you can be able to do.
