There is no definitive answer to your question, I'm sure everyone has their own opinions on the matter.

I used a Logitech Joystick, then the CH Pro Flight Stick, then a Saitek, before I went back to my MS FF 2. I feel the MS FF 2 is the best stick I have ever used.

I used the CH Rudder Pedals for about 5 years before replacing them with the Saitek Pedals last year. I like the Saitek pedals better because of the wider foot placement. The CH Pedals were too close together for me.

I use a CH Throttle Quadrant which I think is excellent.

I also use the TIR4 which has ruined flying on the PC for me. It is so great I can no longer fly on PCs without it.

Keep your MS stick its on of the smoothest and most precise sticks made. Combine it with a CH throttle, and Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals. Another stick option is the Saitek Aviator.

Also Track IR is a must have. Track IR3 or 4 with Vector support.

If there is nothing wrong with your MSFFB2 then I suggest you keep it. This sim will support up to 4 inputs... I use a MSFFB2/SaitekX-45/Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals setup with TIR 4 (http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/trackir-product-comparison.html) & a Buttckicker (http://www.thebuttkicker.com/ButtKicker%20Gamer_home.html). Hit the thumbnails to see pictures of what I mean.

I modified my X-45 by taking the guts from the stick and sticking them on the side of the throttle to save on desk space.

But even before I did that I just had the throttle on the X-45 off to the side and I used it as a button bay.

The Saiteks are great sticks... but as I said if there is nothing wrong with your MSFFB2 then I would keep using it and do the extended controller bit. Yolu might want to consider getting the new Saitek throttle

http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/saitekusa_1957_1928451

or a reconditioned X-52 and rudder pedasl from this site (http://saitekusa.stores.yahoo.net/recprod.html).

Everyone has their own opinions.... I have yet to hear any complaints about CH products (http://www.provantage.com/ch%7E110CHPU.htm) as far as their quality goes, but IMO for a sheer bang for the buck factor, you cant beat Saitek. I know guys who swear by their Thrustmaster Cougar (http://www.provantage.com/thrustmaster-2960534%7E7THRU00U.htm) gear. But AFAIC if I have to spend $167 on a stick and then another hundred or so to mod it up so that it will be "better" then to me it just isnt worth it. AFAIC the MSFFB2 is the best joystick around and it is a shame they got out of the business so like I said..if there is nothing wrong with yours then consider keeping it. Saiteks are good products also.

If you've got the budget for it then get a Cougar, fit the FSSB R2 mod and a hall sensor in the throttle and then buy a set of simpeds.

Well that depends upon postage & import duty etc.

450 Euros for the FSSB R2 + said etc.
http://www.realsimulator.com/html/fssb.html

You'll need to email cubpilot for the current price of the throttle Hall sensor mod. His website is here:
http://www.cubpilotshangar.net/

Then you'll want new throttle switch housings from IJ. He lives in this thread:
http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=22044

Relatively speaking they were pocket change since fundamentally you're talking about 2 little bits of aluminium and some cable ties. Well worth it though!

Finally, simpeds (you'll want the F-16Cs to go with the Cougar) may be found here:
http://home.arcor.de/p.madel/simped/simp001.htm

(Current price is 258 Euros.)
