As a Yank offline flyer, this was one bird that was truly needed. Offline campaigns require multiple task aircraft for the sake of mission diversity. While the various Spits and Hurricanes may be fine for A2A action, I have always viewed them to be somewhat suicidal for mud moving. As a result, I have stayed away from Brit campaigns. Until now! This baby is like the big Yank birds: big, fast and carrying a ton of hurt. The rockets are awesome (can we get some for the Jug please http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) and whoever did that cockpit should be given a full time six figure job at 1c. That has to be the most beautiful pit I've ever seen in a sim. It does heat up fast but after flying the Corsair this isn't bothering me too much at the moment. Besides this mother is so fast down low that I find I can keep up w/late model German props with relatively low throttle. Now we just need additional campaigns for this baby. Just $0.02 from a long time Yank flyer. I'm happy for all of you UK flyers-finally a true, high performance, multi-role fighter!

I agree, it really is a well modelled plane IMHO. And that cockpit is first class definately.

The only thing that bugs me is the gunsight, but I too find it a very nice plane.

Naturally I love it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would agree too...its the perfect aircraft for multipurpose operations. I've had some great fun purely using the Tempest in the ground attack role. Its very potent at this job with its armament options and its superb visibility of the target infront of you.

BTW: If you want an American Tempest Ace skin...look up Fairbanks.

Indeed a good bird, and I actually like the gunsight, you see more of the target http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I also love the Tempest.

At least one of the P-47 models does carry rockets.

Unless you mean that you want the same rockets that the Tempest carries but mounted on a Jug...

The Jug currently only has the tubed rockets. I'm sure he's referring to the under-wing rail-mounted HVARs that offer a 'clean' profile once the ordnance is deployed. Those Tubed rockets are good target destroyers, but hinder aircraft performance so much I disdain using them on most missions.

I meant the armor piercing variety mounted on stubs like the Tempest and Corsair. I haven't seen that option for the Jug yet. If it exists kindly point me to it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (beat me to it TGD!)

Cool, I just wasn't sure what you meant. It reads like you wanted rockets on the Jug, rather than those particular rockets. I agree, those rockets are - here comes the pun - the bomb!

Jugs could carry HVAR's, as could Mustangs. Not sure which versions of the Jug could carry them, I wonder if its the N version only.

The HVARs on the Corsair and P38L are different from the rockets on British aircraft.

The ones on the Beaufighter, Tempest and Seafire are 60lbs rockets. One incorrect thing is we can't select high explosive or hollow charge variants like the HVAR's and AP HVAR's. One other incorrect thing with the Tempest is they could fire the rockets in pairs, in fours or all at once (but I think its a travesty to arm the Tempest with them, it never used them operationally!). I'm not sure if the Tempest could carry 12 but there was a set of rails for the Typhoon that could carry 12 60lbs rockets. From what I've read only 450+ sorties were carried out with these, in the grand scheme of things thats about a few weeks worth!
