I have FB v1.22, and I've heared that some versions of IL2 have overmodeling and other FM issues. Which are there in 1.22? I've for now found that the mk 108 needs more rounds than before to score a kill, and the 109 itself seems more manouverble. If there are any links discussing it, could you point me to it? Just wanna be informed, that's all...

Some versions with overmodelling and other FM issues? ALL OF THEM, BE SURE http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You can find good info about this subject at ORR: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=63110913.

However, FB 1.22 is very old version, so look for threads dated 2003 and 2004.

Go buy IL-2:1946 and you will be up to the current version. Not that much whining encountered up till now, actually. Oh, and did i forget to say that it has a "few" more planes and a better FM than ever?

Go and buy Il2 1946, its the latest version with 225 flyable planes and its got the best flight model of them all. It has every patch and addon.

As for planes being overmodelled, its all a matter of opinon. Safe to say its the most realistic WW2 flight sim ever made.

^^^^^ uhh sorry buddy but your wrong

Battle Of Britain: Wings Of Victory is the most realistic flight sim ever made. e.g. clickable cockpit for manual startup, complex engine manangement, 6DOF, graphics suck though. if u dont know what 6dof, means 6 degrees of freedom, u cna open canopy and stick your head out andsee the plane from the side and look behind and stuff. plus the AI is ridiculous smart. and the clouds look way better. doesn't have online multiplayer though, but still a great game

I think thats a matter of opinion as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Lets be realistic here.

@Pigeon1989: Every version has its own share or set of problems or perceived uber/porked aircraft, weapons, and so forth. Very few of the patches that we got ever had real technical problems that were show stoppers. Its a testament to the quality of the software that so few patches caused any problems whatsoever technically speaking. As for actual game values and that sort of thing its massively debatable most of the time.

I'd just go out and get a copy of IL-2 1946 which contains everything and every upgrade. There are tons of fixes from 1.22, many which I can't even remember, but the German 20mm cannons were fixed (there was a problem with the ammo types that made them less effective), the size of the muzzle flash on aircraft was toned down for daytime operations, the flight model is far more realistic now, and there are literally tons of new aircraft from all theaters. We've even picked up higher boost versions of the P-51 Mustang, P-38 Lightning, and P-47 Thunderbolt so there is something to like everywhere.

No such thing as a perfect sim. BoB WoV is a simulation made of compromises, just like every other http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The FM of some of the MS FS series is arguably much better than this sim or BoB WoV. BoB WOV is a fine sim with many advantages over 46, just as 46 enjoys advantages over BoB WoV

Thanks, didn't expect so much attention. I've mentioned in some other post that 46 isn't going to be around my neighborhood for (quite) some time, because people here want more mainstream games. Simmers here are rare. Conformists http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
