Playing this game has really inspired my interest in aviation art as well, after all we all enjoy the creations that we see on the screen and I also enjoy contemporary aviatin art too. I have a number of favorites including Robert Taylor and Nicolas Trudgian. I also like Jack Fellows and recently bought his print called Gustav! showing Herman Graf's G-6 that he flew when in command of JGr 50. I was just wondering if anyone else has a passion of aviation artwork and who some of your favorites may be. Later all and I will see you in the skies.................

I have Barrie A.F. Clark's Spitfire hanging in the living room,(you know the one). There's a similar one of a Lanc which I've always liked but I don't know who did it. If I Google B.A.F. Clark, I only get his Spitfire so I don't know if he ever did anything else WW2 aviation-wise. There are a lot of these artists out there, but I like the ones that are not too cluttered with action.

It's only funny til someone loses an eye....then it's hilarious

I have quite a few aviation books, and Trudgian, Taylor and Fellows come to mind. I also enjoy the plastic model art of the 60's and 70's.

I do have to say this. I don't reall enjoy Stan Stokes's art. He is a great technical artist, but his aviation art is cold and unfeeling, and usually a simplistic scene with the plane or two plane subjects the center focus with no real background feature, as in no secondary subjects.
Also, I think he takes unresearched liberties with his backgrounds. At one of our Warbirds conventions, I was passing around one of my aviation art books, the one that I get signed by the subjects of the art itself. One of the photos is a Finnish Brewster Buffalo over a finnish mountainscape. My friends who came from Finland agrred wholeheartedly that there was no such Mountain range that looked even remotely like the range he painted.

Thats just my artistic opinion, I am sure there are alot of people who enjoy Stokes's art.
