Hi everyone,
I finally managed to log on to the Ubi server tonight. I found that I had to manually set my IP address in IL2 FB Setup for MP to work. Anyway it was terrific and much more challenging than the AI. I was shot down several times before I got up to speed, but then managed to return some fire and shot down a few myself. (I admit one was a Kamikaze style attack, but my engine was dying from a flak hit anyway).
Now that I am online, should I go straight to hyperlobby, as I hear in the forum that it is better, or should I get proficient first in the Ubi server? Also, are there any squadrons who will train a new online fighter pilot in team tactics and happen to be recruiting.
Also, I have headphones with a microphone. Do I need Roger Wilco to use these with a squadron, or can I configure FB to use the mic?
Thanks in advance!!!

I forgot to mention that I was on an almost full real server, except the aircraft icons were on. Are there more full real games on hyperlobby. I prefer the authentic feel and additional challenge.

Hyperlobby has a greater number of full difficulty servers than Ubi. Fly wherever you learn quickest, if you're concerned with not embarassing yourself, set up an alias account and swap back when more proficient.

Almost all organised squads in IL2 utilise voice comms and a noise-cancelling microphone is a necessity if you wish to participate.

As to getting into squads, check which ones fly your timezone/area and strike up a conversation.

Hi there!

Always happy to see new online pilots. I can personally recommend HyperLobby. I'm also registered in Ubi but I think HL is much more popular and has all sorts of pilots using it, newbies and veterans. You can easily find a good squadron there to join, just go and fly in servers with difficulty settings you like and cahat and ask around. I suggest trying out the more realistic servers and coops for trying out some team playing.
As for the headphones and mic, I suggest using separate systems with them like Roger Wilco or Team Speak. The squadrons will tell you what they normally use.

Good luck and hakkaa p¤¤lle!

I thought there would be many more servers running on HyperLobby than on UBI's servers, but I found that there not that many more in dogfigthing rooms.
Well, I don't fly that much on the net, the ping is killing my connection.

Well, the HL has VOW and VEF in addition to coop, dogf and team servers. I suppose the Ubi doesn't support them (correct me if I'm wrong). That pretty much turns me to HL.
