OK, allow me to leave the combat aspects aside for a while to ask you this question:

Which AC do you think is the nicest overall in this game? My vote goes to the Polikarpov I-16 Rata - such a nice flyer, very aerobatic and on top of everything what a dead gorgeous 30's Art Deco design too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

And your pick is?

You're talking about general feel while flying?

If so, I love to "just fly" the Stuka around. It has real nice handling.

Whatever general aspects you guys like to mention actually - looks, flying feel, design, etc.

But yeah, the Ju-87 is a very nice flyer as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Surely excellent for cruising around the countryside when the mood hits ya...

I-16 Mosca (it's enemies call it the Rata!) is nice to fly aerobatics in, but the lack of trim makes it an unpleasant plane to just fly

P-39 is fun to just fly in, and easy to land. Early P-40s are docile in most repsects too

Indeed which is why it is one of my faves to check out new maps. Love flying around Kiev or Leningrad in it.

OK, Mosca it is then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But you can get it to fly hands-off - or at least almost - if you set your prop to 80% and power to 70% I've found...

P40s, Spits, P39, Hurricane. the 109 is not bad either, problably better ingame than IRL

My personal favorite for just flying around is Spit LF Vb. Reason because of the docility and great low speed handling. The aircraft itself is a real dream to fly.

Nicest to fly is Spitfire VIII.

Closely followed by the Bf109F4

But that does not make it the best all round combat plane, for the best combat plane see my sig http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'd agree with Xiola on that one...The Vb is nice and all but some aerobatics require a little more power and the VIII is the nicest overall. I also can't argue with Jeffrey Quill's statement that he always thought the VIII was the best handling Spitfire ever built although some of the other Supermarine testers thought the Mark II was.

I'd also say that almost any A6M Zero and any Hurricane model are nice to fly as well. Sheer joy in the sky. The I-16 is a great aerobatic plane but without elevator trim I find it somewhat irritating sometimes.

I find the i16 far too unstable.

Mk Vb Spit is far too underpowered for me, so I am guessing that the MkVb LF will be similar, its not a plane I have flown a lot to be honest.

I would have to agree with some others here who have said the 109f4, and the spit mk8/9.

109f4 is probally the plane i have flown the most, it just does anything i want it to, to me it doesnt have a fault.

Spit 8 and 9 are both beutifull to fly to, and although i know the spit 8 is suppossed top be the nicest to fly, although i cant quite put my finger on what, i think i prefer the mk9c. There so similar but...

The LF Vb is closer to IX/VIII than it is to the VB.
According to Alex Henshaw, The Mark II and Mark V where the best spits to fly aerobatics.

If you ask a pilot that flies spits today, he will tell you. Spit V.

The VIII is worse than the IX because its heavier.

P-40
Great low and high speed handling, fun to dive and swoop in.

mynameisroland

The VIII was regarded by many as the best because it had a stiffer airframe to cope with the uprated power of the Merlin 60's series. This translated in to better handling at high speed and a stiffer more taught response to pilot input. Its increased weight was more than compensated by its retractable tail wheel and larger rudder.

I disagree. I have talked to many pilots that flies spits today, They say that the VIII feels heavier.
The stronger frame helps when the aircraft is heavy loaded with weapons, but when you flie around in a emty aircraft, early spits are better.

I've read a couple of comments from wartime Mk XII pilots that it was the nicest of all Spitfires in the air, particularly at low level with the Griffon IV & VI. The problem is the relative scarcity of pilots who got to use it (only 100 were built) and the somewhat hairy transfer from a counter clockwise rotating prop to a clockwise rotating prop.

Essentially a MK Vc airframe with a 1780/1815 hp Griffon, it combined higher P/W than most of the Merlin engined marks with better forward view (the Griffon was mounted lower than the Merlin) and exceptionally crisp handling, particularly in roll.

The ADFU found that the Mk XII "handles in general better than the previous marks of Spitfire" (in a comparison with a Mk V @ +16lbs and Mk IX @ +18).

In game, I feel most comfortable with the P-47D-27. Solid, dependable and excellent above 6,000m.

Dunno if you mean these guys but both Geoffry Quill and Eric Brown both stated the XII was the nicest of the Spitfires to fly.

One of the nicest looking Spits too.

Clipped Wing Spitfire MkVIII, nothing comes close, and it's a killer. Show me a 190 or a 109 and I'll eat them breakfast. Even got a couple of Ta-152s last night.

spitfire. any model.

first. external view.

look at the stright lines. from the engine tip to the cockpit. then a nice halfway bubble canopy and a stright beautiful line back to the tail which is nicely rounded. and the buttom is kinda stright aswell.

flying it. its maneuverable and it feels fast. i love getting 400-500 and just fly it completly in fly by view. it just looks fantastic when it whirls by.

its got something magical over it.
cant be anything else.

if i had to say anything it would be Arado 234.

love the speed and its pretty nice aswell.

I'm really really starting to like the K-61 Hien. Seems to have few vices and is a respectable performer. Pleasant to fly.

A close 2nd, and in a do or die combat situation though, I have to give the nod to the Bf-109 all models except the "Emil", the F2, and G6 1943.

So you prefer the INGAME Vb over the VIII ? We are talking ingame remember chaps - if you read the 1st post of the thread. All that I said applies to the VIII ingame over any of the early models, it handles better at speed and maintains its energy better.

I don't know why but I see nicest and start to dream a bit, if I could have....

I'd like to travel around in one of these three; Pe-2, Ju-88 or B-25. Unless I could have
C-47? Then I could stretch my legs without landing, put couches and projector-TV with big
screen in back, put in a bar and hire a Stewardess.

Of course I'd also have to be able to afford it but as long as I'm dreaming I might as well
be able to take a friend or two along. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
