Hi,

I was online last night and a friend and I, in nearly full-real Hurricane MkIIc + field mod, attacked an incoming TB-3.

We both approached from underneath and fired at very close range, say, between 100-200m. We both unloaded our entire ammo stores in the aircraft, I chose the port side and caused one engine to catch fire and produce thick black smoke, my other shells hit the remainder of the port wing and some of the fusalage - very impressive to watch !

My wing man did pretty much the same, although he concentrated of the tail section and lower fusalage.

Many many bullets hit the poor old TB-3 but it just didn't go down ! Were they really that tough? We both unloaded two hurri's worth of bullets into it from point blank range !

I think the TB-3 is one of very few planes that you take out best by spraying the fuselage. Killing the pilot is quite easy, destryoing the plane is very difficult.

Yeah...it´s quite tough to shoot it down. Next time, try concentrating both of you on just one point: wing roots, engines, tail section...

With light rounds you need to target critical points on the plane to get success.

The engines and fuel tanks are good to go after, but note that fires are easy to put out with the fire extiguishers. It would be best to strafe the top of the plane. With 12 303s, you should be able to whack the pilot pretty easy, or at least waste a few gunners.

The TB3 is I remember correctly had massive amounts of open space in the fuselage and especialy in the wings.

Vitals were mainly the engines and exposed crew. To target anything else required luck and massive ammounts of ammunition to take down a TB3 short of a few 37mm cannon shells.

Weird , coz planes with weaker armament are capable of bring the big bird down. With IIc I was sectioned the tail of a TB3. With FW A-4 , coming from below , hit the wing roots. Must be hitting something else coz I have seen an explosion and whole wing went down. with dora did the same , but took all my lead , nothing happened but the crew jumped off /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif . As for others , P-47 , hit from below as well , piece of cake , just remember to add some extra ammo. Normally those .50 should do lotta damage. Appears not to be the case ... for now. i guess the patch will address this.

TB-3 has absolutely no ventral defensive coverage. Get underneath it, lift your nose and aim for cockpit position. One of the easiest bombers in the game to bring down IMHO.

thanks for the replies guys. I guess it was just one of those things, we were on his six and did unload from underneath, as suggested... maybe I'll go and find another one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
