Hi all
Well, finally!!
Got a decent connection, joined HL and went on my first outing last night.
First mission was a DF one, a whole gaggle of guys in 109's were roaming at high altitude - first I flew an LA-5, then a Lagg 3, both plane swhich i've enjoyed offline for awhile now. Well, when I got to the combat zone, I was flamed 4 times in a row by these guys in the 109's - they just had major height and speed advantages! Anyway, changed tactics and flew an iL2 - the tank-buster version. Now, I noticed these guys were pretty wary of B&Z'ing me! So one dude, this particular guy had flamed me twice previously, he comes headon at me, probably didn't realise what plane I was in! Literally one round squeezed off from the iL2's tank-cannon, and he was minus one wing!
Woohoo!! My first online kill! It really made up for the times I'd been downed prior to that.
Next up was a coop with some reds against Jap shipping, granted we were up against AI,and I flamed two Zero's, saving one of my teammates from being shot up in the process. After we'd cleared the skies, we RTB'd. I then realise base is a carrier! S*$t!!! I'm bad enough at offline carrier landings, so I'm beginning to sweat already! Tapping away madly at the keyboard, telling my teammates that I really suck at carrier landings, but they're just,'don't worry, take it easy, you can do it!'
Hmm, nothing for it then, this is my real baptism of fire!
Would you believe it, I pull off a near-perfect landing, grabbing the arrestor wire just before the carriers superstructure/bridge area, slightly off to the left-hand side. Whew! Then I get told to watch out, the next guy behind me is coming in pretty hot. Just managed to fold my wings in time as he lands literally alongside me!
Everyone got home safe.
Whoa! Now that was great fun, indeed! I'm sold, never mind the one or two kills I racked up, the landing is something I'll remember for a LONG time!
So there you go, my account of a truly memorable 1st time online!!
Thanks for taking the time to read my adventure story so far...to be continued

Awesome man, congrats! Now to up it another level, you need to get on comms and join a squad. It's a whole different world and your learning curve will be reduced 10 fold.

I remember my first flight like 2 minutes into the flight i had someone on my tail I was sweating like hell I was nervous and he came closer and closer few seconds later I just stalled and died, lol.
my first kill came 2 weeks after my first flight.. Oh well...
