Ok played online for the first time and needless to say I was slaughtered. I think I only had 7 or 8 kills total and only 1 of those was from dogfighting. Most were from flying a bomber, and 3 were from a dirty trick I learned.

Set bomb delay for 3 seconds, and grab a P-40 with a 1000lb bomb. Skim the surface and wait for someone to take the bait. When they drop in behind you and start shooting give them a second. Make sure they aren't going to go zooming past you. Then drop the bomb!

1...2...BOOM! It knocks them down and gives you an air to air kill for it lol.

Of course I have no experience in later era aircraft. Everyone was out turning, out climbing, and out gunning me. I kept hopping from aircraft to aircraft until I got in a Yak-8. Then I barely got touched as I BnZ other aircraft as well as chase them through the turns.

I think really it just took me a long time to adapt to human oponents. Much more fun and a million times more unpredictable. Plus you can't always follow them as they will crash, and if you chasing them it's hard for you not to hit the same spot.

Oh yeah another funny thing was when somebody tried to vulch me. I looked right as I was starting my engine, and here he came straight at me. I couldn't go forward in my P-40 so I did the only other alternative. I opened fire and lauched as my guns pushed me backwards, and he ended up just smoking my engine. So I did a refly lol.

I only hate that online I was doing my best to go after targets that were gunning on my team mates. However anytime I took fire when I looked back there was nothing but bad guys back there. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Most of the time too even human opponents will break off their current chase when tracers go past their nose. I tend to fly the russian planes and anytime I can't get a clean shot I just make sure they're in front of them.

I did accidentally shoot down a wingman as he was being pursued by two opponents that I was gunning on. Shame no voice comm or I could have told my wingmen half the time to just pull them around in a turn. As when the wingman starts jinking so does his chaser. Which makes it hard for me to get them off his tail.

Whats funny is how many people who jumped online and couldn't get off the ground. I watched a guy trying to take off as I was respawning. He just kept going from one wingtip to the other until he busted his plane up. I know vulchers are about but if you rush trying to force the plane to fly it's double jepeordy.

Another thing I learned to do when the airfield is under attack is once I'm rolling I keep the flaps up. I stay on the runway until my speed is up, and then I lift just enough to retract the gear. Then I just hug the ground until I'm at fighting speed.
I seemed to have gotten popped a lot less doing that then those who jumped off the ground early.

Oh another note when you take off in a bright white I-16 and see ME-262's coming it's a bad day. lol

One map had a runway on a mountain side. When vulchers were about I would just do an emergency take off off the side of it. As soon as I spawned I started the engine, and just went off the side. I'd get speed, and pull out before I hit the bottom.

Another cool thing was when the fields AAA had all been eliminated vulching was getting pretty bad, and blatant. So I hopped in a PB-3. Instant AAA lol. My AI gunners got two unsuspecting vulchers.

One thing though online it seemed maybe it was a server setting but I could only drop one set of bombs? Like in a PB-3 I couldn't deliver my entire payload. Of course unlimited ammo was set so as soon as I dropped a set they were replaced.

I like 8 seconds drop it right on the runway in front of the spawn pads, all the people hit esc and respawn when they see you fly by then the see you are far away and start rolling http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

then get the whathefokke, makes me crack up everytime

Yes...that is a nice trick that I've mistakenly used. Flying on TX the other night I tricked my P47 out with 2 500lb bombs and 1000lbs bombs with six rockets. When I dropped them on the targets near the river a German plane dove just beneath me, caught the blast and was blown to pieces. It was quite the accident...and very funny http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Pe-8 and the big bomb is deffinately even more fun.
