My Voice buddy. what a cool little pieace of softwear. you say "nav lights on" and your nave lights come on. {rgr navigation lights on}
then say nav lights off...nav lights go off.
Flaps down, flaps go to combat. Bail out...you bail out. very very cool! and worth every penny.

but it's kinda like having a pet. you gotta invest the time to train it or else you wind up talking ot yer buddies on TS and your other buddy will think you just said bail out! Already happend. lol eventually i should be able to donate my TIR1 to a good home. looks like i won't be needing it once i get VB worked out.

I've been getting similar more effective results with a Ronco Clapper.

I "think" nav lights out and clap two times and the pc shuts off.....Naturally the nav lights go out as well. Same for any function to off, engine, wingtip smoke, bail out....

Though they need a patch for the "on" part, takes so long to re-boot.

I would buy an upgrade for it so it can now be plugged into my boss too.... and I heard that the in next version I can plug it into anybody, wow! Can't wait, even it is just 2 weeks to go !!!

I've used Shoot before. it's a good useful program and yes free.... but....it can be a little finicky to use. sometimes it would work great...then the next tiem it wouldn't work at all. If VB is more dependable then it will be a great program to use. Just think jusut by saying "Cover Me" and your AI Wingman obeys your commands. This will free up some buttons on my X45 for more useful commands related to flying.

I bought Voice Buddy, and didn't like it. I can push a button three times faster than I can say Flaps Down Flaps Down Flaps Down.

I think it's a good program for those with a simple joystick who has to use the keyboard a lot. If you have a good Hostas, I don't see any advantage. It would also not respond sometimes, or give the wrong command. Even though I did all the voice training.

My last point is sometimes I just want to fly, and don't feel like talking.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Glad you like it mate. Sounds interesting and thanks for the information. However, unlike TIR and such, this voice thingy doesn't lend much to making the WW2 experience more realistic/immersive. Maybe if modern jets had this technology in RL then having it in a computer game would make more sense. On top of that, this would be confusing for those using comms wouldn't it?

Best regards,
TactS!

Probably comes in handy. How often are you saying "bail out". Im guessing a lot.

It would if you used for formation commands offline.

There's no mixing up of comms to your pals, and talking to Voice Buddy. Neither one here's the other.

I bought it for Lock On, because you a gazillion things to progam in that sim. however, I found it harder to remember all the voice commands than the buttons on my Hostas. Oh well, more money wasted.

Oh, come ON guys.

Stuff like Shoot1.6 or Voice Buddy will work great for voice commands for things that you would normally use for voice. And I use Push to Talk (PTT)--leaving it on all the time doesn't work for me.

Your AI friendlies are constantly talking to you about "fighters at 2 o'clock" or "engaging bandits" or "Leader, bandits your six!". Why wouldn't you talk back to them?

I use Shoot offline or in Coops to:
1. Direct the attack as leader (for example, 2nd flight--attack bombers, 1st flight--attack flak, wingman rejoin) and then I go after the fighters with my wingie looking out for me
2. Call for help (HELP ME!)
3. Direct the formation or the tactical (returning to base).

I use shoot online to type precanned chat messages:
1. Negative
2. Roger
3. Salute
4. Good Kill
5. Can't talk right now
6. Check six!
7. HELP SPEEDER
8. Returning to base
etc.

Whether online or offline, it adds incredibly to the realism and immersion. It stinks to take your eyes off the screen to find your keyboard keys to type "Tab-3-1" (or whatever it is)...you should just say HELP ME. Especially if you're shooting at a bandit and another bandit jumps you...you'd probably not only lose sight of the one you're chasing, but the one who is chasing you is attacking while you are trying to type--and you are trying to navigate a menu system with your eyes and your hands are not on the stick but on the keyboard!

I don't use Shoot to control my plane (no "flaps down" or "up") because that doesn't feel real to me.

But now, I've got my profile for the game working slickly. I use PinkieShift-PTT for Shoot and just regular PTT for voice comms with my squadmates.

YMMV.

"One, attack fighters"
"Two, attack ground"
"Wingman Cover Me".

That saves me fumbling for 10 total keystrokes in the dark.

VB is a great program if you do a lot of flying offline, especially in command of several flights. I don't even know what the keystroke is for supercharge next stage - I just say it.

I don't get it, it has nothing to do with TIR.. Why lose that? YOu gonna say "look right', 'look left'? kinda nuts - its like closing your eyes and talking instead of looking..

What does TrackIR have to do with it? It still works normally.

well i think my tir went to the Cr@pper on me.
and i hardly use it....since i've finally gotten use to the hat switch. like a few others tir is great but i just cant make th adjustment.
compleatly throws me off.

I was hoping this thing might be a be another option. maybe not. but it will work really well for Offline, and CooPs for better AI managment.\
and simple controls like lights, gears, and such. anything that take my had off the stick is a bad thing.

Sorry wasn't clear enough apparently.

While I was supportive of anyone who enjoys using this product, using voice commands to raise gear or lower flaps, for example, would not be very realistic IF one was more concerned with buying computer gadgets to make the game more realistically immersive. That's not to say that having Voice Buddy isn't a lot of fun or helpful.

My comment about TIR was that it does lend itself to adding more realistic immersion in the game.

Certainly the comments about communicating to your squadron would be a great example of how this product could be used in a realistic fashion. Good point mates! I certainly wished at the very least one could customize these menus so that all the important commands could be placed at the "root" instead of navigating through the "pages."

By the way, I'm not telling anyone how they should use the product, just pointing out that some (like me) would not enjoy using it as it is not adding to the WW2 experience ('cause we are over-sized kids pretending to be WW2 aces http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

I agree it kills immersion, but i'm a sucker for new gadgets. I had it in the back of mind to use it for communication more than controling the plane. My example of the flaps was just some of the commands I tried to see how it was going to work. I was disappointed that it gave wrong commands, or did nothing, even though I was giving the right command.

Speaking of not being realistic though. We use joystick/throttle buttons/hats, or the keyboard now. When in real life we'd be hitting switches on the dash, or on the sides of the cockpit. One on the biggest disappointments for me with the whole Oleg series is non clickable cockpits like other sims.
