Just throwing a casual poll here, now when I've finally played through AC II - Which soundtrack do you enjoy the most? AC I's, or AC II's? And how come? Any particular track?

Myself, I think I prefer the music of the first game a lot more than the sequel's - In my opinion, it somehow felt more like a mix of the "real world"-story and the "medieval"-story of Assassin's Creed, while AC II just felt like renaissance Italy. (Which I guess makes sense, considering you practically never venture outside of the machine)
Anyway, since it was in the first game -- Which I've played for countless hours http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif -- it somehow became part of what defines Assassin's Creed to me.
Especially Access the Animus.

AC2 hands down http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif
I love the soundtrack of AC2 so much that i bought/downloaded (frankly the soundtrack dvd that came with the black edition didn't include all the soundtrack, so i think i earned the right to download it) and put it on my Ipod and listens to it all the time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Jesper Kyd did outstandingly well in both games, both soundtracks suited their respective settings amazingly.

AC1 had a great, authentic atmosphere to it and the investigation music (particularly Acre) really fleshed out the covert nature of Altair's assignments... even if you play then in an overly-overt way. And the main assassination chase/escape music is unbeatable; gets my adrenaline pumping every time!

AC2 on the other hand had a more lively, refined tone than AC1 did, mainly so because it signaled the birth of the modern age and didn't need to capture the brutality of war (since it wasn't set in the Crusades anymore). The city ambience suited the classical nature of arts & antiques (which were very popular at the time) coupled with a subtle, dark undertone to highlight the fact that secretive things are happening (conspiracy). The investigation/infiltration music is a little more pronounced but still immersive. I also like how there's different music for fighting & fleeing, which still makes you feel like a badass even when you're running from a group of brutes like a little girl.

Both soundtracks are great, but I'll vote for AC2 simply because I listen to its soundtrack more than AC1.

I liked both but I like AC2 more. My favorite track, well I dont remember the name, but the music that plays while doing the races. It works really well with the races and one big reason I've replayed the races quite a few times, love listening to it and scrambling around the towns in quick time. I also just love the races anyway, forcing you to just keep on running, forget the guards, people etc, just keep moving.

Never played the first Assassin's Creed. However, i did Bought the AC2 plain vanilla version. I would've gotten the Master Edition but it didn't work out i way i planned it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif (long story). Well, what's bygone is bygone and i bought three AC2 soundtracks from itunes instead, there were:
--Earth
--Venice Rooftops
--Ezio's Family
Venice Rooftops is clearly ahead of others from the list i think. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Those three tracks go well together, each one a more epic version of the former. You should check out some other tracks to see- well, hear the full diversity of Assassin's Creed II. Recommended tracks:
- Stealth
- Notorious
- Sanctuary
- Tour of Venice
- Venice Escape
- Wetlands Escape
- Approaching Target (1, 2 or 3)
- Venice Combat
- Ah heck, just listen to the whole thing. You won't be disappointed! (< not track name)

AC2, but I still can't stand it when you are notorious and you get in a fight the high paced fight music doesn't kick in. Pretty much ruined the final battle for me the first time around, there was nothing dramatic about it.

My second playthrough though, I snuck by as many guards as I could in Rome and remained incognito until I got to Borgia. The atmosphere at the final battle is 100 times better when the music kicks in.

I like both, the first game's soundtrack made me feel a mixture of forboding and excitement, and AC2's is a pure rush during the action and time to reflect when it is calm.
