Most likely Yak-9.
They were produced in '90s (Yakovlev re-started production of these and Yak-3s). They are however, powered by Allison engines.

They are simple aircraft with easy and understandable controls. So fits a newbie like me.

BTW m8, what would you do with that rocket -- don't tell me that you would actually fly it.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v442/Atomic_Marten/Smileys/WHOOWS.gif

Atomic you can buy some new ones now, they are importing the first and they will be test flown at half moon bay and have a Pratt and Whitney engine

Secudus2004
05-10-2005, 12:34 PM
Yep, I would fly it. But its not a rocket though. I would fly her with 'Mr BlueSky' playing in the back ground, or perhaps 'Its a Beautiful Day' by U2... Wonderful! Lol!

Could not find that bird http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif..

But I have found

Original Yak-9

One of only six original aircraft in the world (of 17,000 made!) and likely to be the first airworthy example. Will be totally restored with zero-timed Klimov engine. Will be available with large stock of spares, including spare engine etc. An incredible opportunity at a fraction of the cost of more common Western contemporaries with less performance. Price from Euro 180,000 'as is', or can totally restore. http://www.russianaeros.com/ForSale.htm

Boulton-Paul Defiant. It's worth remembering as the third of the "modern" fighters which took part in the Battle of Britain, if only for the sake of the crews lost.

Besides, it looks cool. Odd, but cool.

I would get someone to build a new Shorts Sunderland flying boat but with a designer interior I could live in between flying from port to port. Ah, the romance of flying boats.

Oh, and I'd get a Mosquito to go places faster http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There are new examples of the latter, at least, being built now. I want one.

Seen as in this scenario I've more money than brain cells it'd be a A-380F with half the cargo space fitted out as a high-flying luv palace for me and my many girlz, and the other half kept for my Spitty and the grease monkies who would keep it happy for me until I next required it.

Nah. A Steerman bi-plane or one of those flying boats to go island hopping in. If I ever had a high-performance fighter I'd very quickly have a high-perfomance crash.

Seriously though a 190, Spitfire or a Mustang.
Sportcars that just happen to fly. If you had the money you could replcae any part really.
Eventually people will start building these planes for people maybe not en masse but like a Rolls Royce type exclusivness.
Better learn to fly for real.

Would have to be a P40E,M or N for two reasons.

1. They are amongst the most beautiful fighters ever built in my opinion(along side the P51D).

2. My Grandad was with No.4 Servicing Unit, RNZAF Fighter Wing in Guadalcanal and New Georgia 43-44, and used to work on/repair them.

Oh well...This depends really...What era? So many to choose from...

Out of WWI: Hell I don't know, that really fast German one with the inline...Albatross I think.

WWII: Something like a Bf-109G-10 or K-4. Perhaps a 190 Dora or a nice 152H failing the 109...Or a 110... The KI-61 looks interesting too, would get expensive and maintenence intensive though. P-38's and P-51's look interesting too, but not as much as the other.
[Edit: And perhaps an F-4U to play like Pappy Boington.]

Korea: And if I said that I thought all of those planes were ugly?

Vietnam: F-4E Phantom - No questions about it. Or maybe an F-111 to keep around for a little supersonic fun.

Modern: So many to choose...F-15E, F-14D, or an F/A-22... Then again, the MiG-29G's look interesting too!
[Edit: F/A-18's and F-16's are neat too, but the big-sticks mentioned above are for total Air-to-Air ownage!]

short sunderland (the flying porcupine), of course its quills would be removed, wouldn't that be the ultimate rv, fly around the world, anchor off all the great beaches, hot spots and events; of course it would be all decked out inside, living quarters, entertainment area, galley etc. the things big enough that you could carry your own motor launch to get you ashore to the party; if this doesn't attract the babes and get you alpha male status over those guys with thier puny 90 ft yachts nothing will.

I€ve always had a weak spot for the Hurricane. It€s such a basic airplane, engine, wings, a struts-and-fabric fuselage and big, friendly steering surfaces. On the other hand, as mentioned previously, I should probably choose a plane I can fly.

A double-decker would probably be best. The Hawker Fury has a very nifty 30ies look, but a Hawker Heart would have room for my fiancé as well.

Yes! Another Hawker fan-you're my new friend http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Hind's over Hart's though, the slight change of the back cockpit just makes me soo much happier http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Those who drool on the party option, did you forget the "Spruce Goose"? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif But I guessI will want it custom built with more powerful engines. For the spare time - A Dora http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif This beauty was made to fly fast http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

p-51 for sure, longest range of any wwii fighter and more flight hours http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

a 190a8 would be my second choice. Then a yak3. 109s are nice but theres so many accidents in them.

Well,

If I got to choose one ...

I'd get me a nice and sturdy Hurri...
Maybe go wild and get the tin-opener version....
http://www.raf.mod.uk/history/images/hurrihist12.jpg

On the less egotistic side, I'd get the Swordfish... just to show me Mom & Dad what flyin' is all about! (Not that I know what it's all about, but hey, we're dreaming here aren't we?)

For just fooling about; a late build (Jan or Feb 1945) Typhoon IIb, with the Sabre IIC running at 3900 RPM cleared for +13 lbs boost on 150 octane, clear view 'bubbletop' canopy, whip aerial, Tempest tail unit, redone rudder balance, 'harmonised' controls, 4 bladed Rotol electric prop, "cuckoo" doors on the air intake and a nice pain job!

Not much really, pity there is only 1 surviving Typhoon in existance and the rebuild isn't exactly kosher.

You€re right! The Hind (http://www.ukskies.co.uk/H/images/Hawker%20Aircraft%20Ltd%20-%20Hind.jpg) is veeeery nice, like a two-seater Fury.

If I could afford one, I'd probably be able to pay Oleg to make a special Hind patch too.

So one can impress selected Passengers with a unique experience(Not going down in flames, that problem should be fixed :-)).

These days you can just pop over to AAA and ask for someone to make the Hind. In fact, I think I'll go over there and suggest it right away.

A used Cessna 182 probably. But I can't afford one until well after I buy a house. And even then the upkeep is so high it might be better to just rent. Plus a 182 has that constant speed prop which has to be overhauled occasionally, besides the regular engine overhaul.

A brand new Focke Wulf 190.

It's a Mig-15 sitting in a corner of the airport a few miles from my house. As far as I know, it hasn't flown in years. If I got it, I'd re-engine it, refurbish the interior with some modern instrumentation (no glass cockpit though), and fly the **** out of it every day http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Give me B-29 bomber with Nuclear weapon included. I'll go fly over Duxford and drop a bomb on all your vintage planes!!!

Just kidding.

Realistically?

Id get my pilots license first. Then I would buy a 6 seater twin. Not sure what manufacturer. To tell the truth I'd love to own a vintage warbird.. preferably a Mustang but any will do.. but I would have to get quite a few hours under my belt before i would even think of taking up a warbird. Even if it was mine.

I'd go for a Westland Dreadnought: Wacky Wiki stuff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westland_Dreadnought)
Wouldn't try to fly it of course, Just stand next to it. That way I'd be better looking than the plane...

Xiolablu3

Bf109G2, Spitfire mkIX, Fw190A3 or A6, Fw190D

Any of these would just be fantastic :@)

I think i would choose a radial engine with a great range , good cockpit visibility and nice aerobatics ability to have fun with it .

So i'd probably go for a Mitsubishi A6M5 type 0 model 52 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Since we would not be at war , it would be unnarmed and its weaknesses wouldn't show cause i wouldn't manoeuver at high speed with my plane , i'd be too afraid to damage the airframe http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I always liked the F-86's...
I know where one is sitting that wasn't in too bad of condition but it is on static display outside. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
(It's not at Chino either.)

I would need the Pilot's license first though.
And Like Bearcat said several hours of flight time before considering getting in the cockpit of it.
