in spite of (or perhaps even because of) the oval cowling that is fairly reminicient of a certain part of a womans anatomy...and one of its nicknames.....

the JUG is hands down the most manly type

the only thing to me that is not clear is why the thread author would have the audacity to include the ki84 and La7 in the same group as the corsair 190 and Jug....sorry bud, but kick the ki84 and La7 over to the "lady plane" section, post haste

no man who has never been castrated has ever been seen in a La7 in FB...

Well, that's because of the 2 "bumps" on top of the engine cowling. I just want to play with them. That plane can't be manly. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hmmm. The original list are all radials.
Why does a masculine fighter have to have a fat nose?
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

I vote P-38. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Late model P-40s are a close second.

You can just guess how I voted!

In both the feminine and masculine sections...heh..heh..heh...

(seems like almost everyone else did too!)

If I could have picked two, then the P-47 would have gotten my vote too...in my mind they are both equally masculine...

Tiffie is the most masculine, then P-40, P-47 and 190F. Jap planes are for schoolgirls, fragile and bound to spring a leak at the slightest provocation. La-5FN and The Rata are ballsy too.

P40. P38. I-16. Real 'Buck Rogers' planes.
F4U. Tempest V. 109E. Definitely blokes planes.

P47 (ugly, fat feminine) belongs with Spit (sleek, sexy feminine) in other thread.

Sair. Big engine, huge prop, long nose, big folding biceps, can carry serious ordinance, and was probably in service longer than the other planes in consideration (longevity).

IMO.

Actually, serious question now. Can we modify the sounds in the game?

190A9 with 2x30mm cannons.

More punch than a supervised teen's party, fast and a big chin to boot. Plus, there's no namby pamby dodgy DM or the miracle of a no E bleed FM, either.

Only two others would come close and they would be the Tempest and the P47.

The 190A is the Jack Regan of the plane world. The other two can be Bodie and Doyle. They think they're tough but neither of them are hard enough to thrash around in a Mk1 3.0 litre Grannie before saying, "We're the Sweeney, son, and we haven't had any dinner..so unless you want a good kicking...."

Aircraft like the Fw-190's and (To a lesser extent) the Bf-109 seem to have more of a 'masculine' thing about them. Think about it, large guns, small, fast, nimble. But then again, the P-51/47/38/F4U all seem to be pretty tough fighters as well.

Speaking of large guns....

I'm giving a write-in vote to the IL2 and P-39 as being the most masculine of the planes. They have the biggest guns in the game and are suited only to real men.

For the looks- the P-40 is Muscle car manly!
for durability- the IL-2 and the A-20 G <--- shrugges off small calibers like a heavy weight prize fighter.(of course size doesn't matter without Stamina.) :P

Since it's for fighters though I'd have to go with the FW-190.

For the life of me, I still cannot see feminity or masculinity in airplanes. How many hours do you guys fly? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Since these threads started I have been trying to see it. I even drank a few beer for inspiration. Didn't help.

Some mentioned "large guns". Due to their aggressiveness it doesn't necessarily mean they are masculine. Anyone with a wife or girlfriend will understand. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There are two possibilities of what "womenfly" might be thinking after reading some posts.

"Large guns? Oh great, another compensation thread. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif"

or

"I DON'T GET PMS! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif"( My x said this once a month) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

but to the topic, sure you can se masculinity in airplanes, look at the FW190 (A moddels) the Dora aint that manly i think http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif , the Dora aint that rugged and muscular as the Anton's

So i think that the radial engined airplanes like the Antons and P-47's are muscular and "manly", but the slim inline engined 109 and the Dora are a evil/wicked looking pair http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

with feminine its about the curves, with masculine its about the edges http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
