Hi all,

As this very important info from the developer is lost in a "flame" topic /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif , I think it is interesting to start another topic on these great news:

" How do you like the idea that flying the same aircraft for a long time in campaign even after repair you may lost the wing in maneuver if the wing longeron was damaged in battle before, then repaired (all in campaign mode) and then after repair you was flying again? It just a part that we plan." (O.Maddox)

In my opinion, this feature is simply great for the realism of the dogfights /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Cheers,

Yeah.. that would be definitely a great step into more realism.. now this would become a really good reason not to risk too much and attack mindlessly, going into headons and so on if you care about your plane.. damaging some part of it and repairing again would result in a slightly weaker performance and so on..

yes.. this does actually sound very good.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Look here:

http://www.214th.com/ww2/usa/p51/

... the "From the cockpit" story.

"'In my outfit there were several cases of P-51's having structural failure in flight. It is a pretty sure thing that most of these break-ups occurred because the pilot was heavy on the controls at high speed. The unwary could easily get into such a situation. We got a lot of this when people started to chase Jerry jets. Sometimes it would look that no more harm than popping a few rivets had been done. As we didn't have the equipment in those days to check for metal fatigue the plane would be put back into service only to break up next time a pilot pulled a sharp turn."

Hard to wait, two years!!!!

This is really great news! Also same thing for engine! There MUST be some downsides when using 110% power in the long run. AFAIK in RL that engine went directly to maintenance after this trick.

Some engines only had a 40hr lifespan before being junked. At least in the desert.

I'd love after a long,drawn-out campaign to fly around in the same rickity, severely worn, patched up plane I've flown through the whole campaign. It would give her(whatever plane it may be) more character and personality,I think. I love it!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Also, what would be great, is if the plane's wing was patched hastily, for example, if there was another raid in half an hour, the plane would weigh more on one side and the pilot would have to compensate for the weight.

Yeah it would be great in a campaign to have to maintain your own plane throught the campaign, if you dont get shotdown

wud be nice to keep the same plane scratches n all.... progressive weathering....

and make it so you can add a doodle to the side in game have some mini pait prog, that would be fun, make the lane much more personalised

would the AI suffer this too? I dont think it could be implemented as it would cause an FPS hit having to calculate all those planes

but it would be cool to have it for AI then it would add a third dimention to a dogfight

This does sound Like a Very Interesting Idea.

But I would like to have something Like a Clipboard Damage /Repair Report from my GroundCrew telling me what was fixed or patched.
That way the Player can be Mindfull of said damage when Flying as every Damaged plane will need to be Flown in a Certain Way so as not to Break up or Break down.

Perhaps depending on the Damage "Visual Patches" on the Players Plane Model could also be displayed.

Also maybe Depending on how good a pilot you have become and the Available Supply Lines at the Time will depend on IF you get a NEW plane or perhaps you may get another Team mates plane. The Top pilots in your Group may get new planes (If available) and you might get one of their old ones, Complete with Damage report.

Just some Ideas to Kick around.

would be good if you coudl have a virtual mechanic and ask him to take a look at it and you can test fly it interactive mechanics would be good... and they could gain experience to improve your palne as the war goes on.... as long as he doesnt die in an airfield attack....

jsut imagine returning and nooooo they killed my mechanic!!!!
