View Full Version : How Much Would We PAY For...?

How much would we pay for a new plane in FB?

As this Eastern Front sim is a dream come true for me, and it is my first prop fighter sim (Flanker is my jet sim), I would PAY 100$ (USA) for an experimental MiG I~224 interceptor for FB.

And a map. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Of course, I would also need a Ta~152 and He~177 so I would have somebody to play with.

Interested Thread Lexx,
Money talks after all,
I would be interested in knowing how many guys are interested in having Pacific War Aircraft Carriers modeled for the Game, along with Pacific War Aircraft currently being worked on.
An add on with a couple of Maps, lets chuck in a random price of $40-00 US for the Add on.

I know some will say I'm a broken record...

Bombers - this game needs more historically accurate bombers.

il4, a20's, pe series, b-17, b-25, ju, etc...

Unless Oleg is just targeting fighter jocks - this game has such awesome potential for a great bomber sim with the fighters already present.

I'd pay for a bomber pack addon for the true sim fans of WW2 air combat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Add Carriers? I'm in for another $50.00-

I'll put it this way..... as much as I love this sim I wouldnt pay more for an add on than for the sim. I dont think I will have to. The add on willprobably be anywhere from $15 to $25. Which is fine with me provided it isnt just 2 or three planes.

Warbird 3 is pay to play. And keep paying to keep playing.

How much would I pay for more planes for a sim I bought but am not playing until it is fixed? Good question!

Not that I am unhappy with 1C, I feel that they deserved the money but I have no more to give so easily. Next time I wait for things to be right, then I buy.

If things get right and I return to FB then maybe some donations to model makers and 1C would be a good thing. Where do we send? Do modellers get post office boxes to keep their home addresses off the net? Do they form an association to handle matters since planes are assigned and getting a good one may mean more donations? And how about 1C? If not money then maybe music CD's, video tapes, etc? It would be a good way to show appreciation, the amount would be token compared to sales I am sure.

I would pay up to the price of a new sim
for a Pacific addon

XyZspineZyX
06-15-2003, 11:51 PM
Mission packs for other sims are $19.95 or so U.S.

I would be more than willing to pay the same for a quality aircraft expansion pack.

I think this would also enable 1C to properly beta test the aircraft, with a select group impartial pilots with extensive experience with other IL-2/FB aircraft prior to its release.

As well, it would enable Maddox to compensate those within the community that had a hand in its design.

For 2 or 3 new planes that are totally irrelevent to the eastern front, $0. For additional bombers and fighter bombers that are relevent, $20. For a completly new pacific theatre sim with a new physics engine and graphics, $50. For a new western front sim with a completly new physics engine and graphics, $50.

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

I'll be VERY surprised if we have to pay for ANY of the third party planes . . . but I would. Think about it: If we fly online together, and you have planes that I do not, I will not see them. As far as that goes, if I understand correctly, your game will have different coding than mine, and we may not be a ble to fly together at all. They will be two different versions.

I second that, except for the $20 deal.
0$ for irrelevant aircraft.
Third party aircraft should be free of charge and downloadable in patches.
An "addon" as FB was to IL2: $40
Totaly new sim: $50

50 planes????? lol I have paid as much as $35 for 2 planes in cfs2 and this sim blows microshaft out of the water. Point is.....anyone who ignores the proffit potential in add on material, let alone a proven market time and time again with the eastern and pacific theaters must have too much money and not need anymore. I would love nothing more than to see a more well rounded sim instead of the standard "Front specific" stuff we see these days. I always said if someone could add guns to MS2002 that would kick ARS being able to fly anywhere in the world and land on carriers as well. Carrier landing Rules. Maybe I am more a simmer than a gamer?

single aircraft addons or F2002pro cost about the same as FB

Compare the flowing (Australian) prices

Forgotten Battles. $69.95 AUS

Just Flight - Dash 8 aircraft for FS2002pro $69.95 AUS
Flight 1 - DC9 addon plane for FS2002pro $64.95 AUS
Vmax - B747-200 classic for Fs2002pro $69.95 AUS
Just Flight - Airbis A320 for FS2002pro $69.95 AUS
Flight 1 - 737-400 for FS2002pro $109.95 AUS
Flight 1 - Twin Otter addon plane for FS2002pro $64.95 AUS
Flight 1 - Cessna Cardinal for FS2002pro $64.95 AUS
Flight 1 - Cessna 421C for FS2002pro $54.95 AUS
Flight 1 - Piper Archer FS2002pro $64.95 AUS

These products are ALL single aircraft addons for FS2002 and all sell for close to or in some case much more than ($109.95!!) the original cost of the entire FB program.

IMO,

$5.00 per one fighter added.
$10.00 per one bomber added.
$20.00 per one map added.
$3.99 per one eye-candy added.
$100.00 for refraction of windshield.

I think they are worthy of the prices

I would not buy a FB addon with just more of the same. More planes are OK but nothing special, we already have 80+. Ditto for maps.

What I would pay for is an overhaul of the current game. Flight Models, Damage Models, more optimizations for both sound and videoPerfect settings anyone?), a new and much more realistic Dynamic Campaign, and above all else, better AI.

A few new planes and a new map or three would be almost required for it to sell well, but I am more interested in the above.

I cannot see it being for than $30.00 US. That is the asking price of addons for other games here, like Bloodmoon for Morrowind. Those prices for those CFS addon planes are not what we should be going by. That is extortion.

Not even if it supports is 3rd party modelers? What your asking for is a sequal for the price of a add-on. Most add-ons go for 19.95 (20$), were the full game goes for $60. Now, the market for add-ons is limited below the number of full games sold. I think about 1/3 of the people who got the full games get the add-ons. So not only arre you 1/3 of the price, but 1/3 of the market!!! Thats not a lot of money. And you want WHAT for that small ammount of money? Your smoking some good stuff, arnt you? Now, if Oleg needs to spend a BUTT LOAD of time on new maps, new features, new FM, DM, optimizations and crap, that ups the price for the addon. Then people wont pay 30-40$ for an add-on, and then the add-on gets turned into a sequal with a bunch of whiney little girls complaining that its not enough to justify the full price. You know what? There is no pleasing people like you. At least not in a way that makes any sort of business sense what so ever.

Isn't that what an addon is supposed to do? Are you happy with the current Dynamic campaign and the AI's behaviour in them? I am not, so I would pay for a new campaign or two that adds new features, but I would not pay for more of something that I already have issues with.

I disagree. I am overall pleased with both IL2 and FB, but like I said I am more interested in more features like a more powerful Campaign,a fully working CEM, and uber optimized FMs than just adding more planes.

Great, I will start an ORR thread on How Much Would We PAY For AI and pick your favorite AI feature to add. I have many I can think of.

Now, answer the original Question. Pick one plane (say, Zero for example) for your current FB setup, and name the price (say, zero for example) you will pay for that plane.

This is just something to get us by until The Patch.

well, after buying il2 for $50 and then FB for $50 and now having il2 as a frizbee, i would like to see some free addons, after all, if we had to pay for them, then they would have to work out deals with the 3rd party modelers.
man, since i got married and my wife had a kid, i cant afford the gaming habit anymore. thats one reason why i bought forgotten battles, FREE upgrades, wishing to keep me playing well into the next 5 years or so.

I've got a novel idea!

Let's accept what we are given and pay for the add-on and look forward to the next full flight simulator that 1C:Maddox releases /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

We have all got wish lists.

And you know what they say... if wishing were fishing we'd live in the sea... or something like that...lol

I want more planes, different theatres, special effects, bells, whistles etc.

But I'll still buy a good product when it is released. Even if it doesn't have all of the above.

....?
