Sorry, no final approach shots. I was solo and had too much going on to worry about taking pictures on final. Anyhow...there it is.

I love flying, i've only been once, but the first time you get the wheels off the ground, it's hard to describe how cool it feels

Nice clouds mod in the first pic.

Good call on not multitasking on final. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

If it was a small airport...How many airport people gathered outside to watch your solo Display? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif ...its something the instructor often seems to "forget" to warn the student about before the solo.

That wasnt my first solo. I have soloed several times. I was just working on pattern entry and crosswind landing.

My first solo however I had several family members and friends watching. My mother even video taped it, during which she began to cry as I flew by on my first takeoff http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I am rather envious of you right now. Puttin along at 110knots is fun, but far from exhilarating.

It's been a long time since I went solo (27years ), and your post has made me remember some of the excitement (and fear!)...Thanks.
I still get a thrill every time I take off (the fear has gone!), although now the a/craft are a lot bigger and faster.
I guess the Big Kid in us all loves to do the bird thing.

I draw your attention to the Rules of Conduct thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/1511047252) stickied near the top of this forum, specifically:

Signature size limits in the PF/IL2 forums

Unfortunately signature sizes have got out of hand for some users.

Therefore the following rules will apply for signatures. Could everyone please check their signatures and ensure they meet these new guidelines.

- Limited to one image per signature or a short text.
- 500 wide x 200 high maximum dimensions
- 40KB file size maximum
- 3 lines of additional text

These forums are visited by users with all types of connections and the current situation means that users on dial-up are waiting too long for signatures to download.

In addition to size limits, no Swastikas in sig images please.

The moderators will ensure that these new guidelines are enforced.

NOTE: The file size limit applies to avatars too. Be wary of using animated .gif's in particular. Good animations are very big, even with quite small image dimensions

Where's the Track IR reflector?

Awesome inspiring pictures! Thanks for posting them. I seriously want to fly a plane.
I should at least look into one of those hour long trial flights.

As far as my experience goes, I've been in two Cessnas. Both times the sensation of your body leaving the confines of the ground was amazing. I can't describe it.

I do remember I hated the temperature inversion from radiational cooling that caused the plane to buck and kick during the climb. For some reason I felt SOOOOOO small as we were climbing. It felt like any time the lift from the wing could dissapear and we'd spin into thre ground. Felt powerless, which is always a bad feeling.

After it was explained what was going on I was okay with it. At that time I didn't even realize what temperature inversion was.
