Mr Maddox: firstly, sorry about my English.
I would like to ask you for new, shaky, not laser-like tracers (as those we can see in Call of Duty:United Offensive, in the game level in which we assume the role of a B17 gunner -if this game has these awesome tracers, why not Pacific Fighters?). I have watched many WWII guncam footages, and I would really like to see their shaky tracers in PF.
Thank you.

Tracers IRL aren't shakey. The reason they appear to shake is because the guncams that are recording vibrate due to the weapons' firing. They are fine as-is.

yeah if anything id say call of duty has it wrong...
as far as lookin at them with a human eye u probley whudn notice the shaking effect even being in the airplane.. a old guncamra will see it

u ever seen somebody shootin a real gun om the ground with tracer rounds mixed in?

dont allways need a tracer round to see bullet anyways but it helps and they dont look like the vibrate as u describe heheh...only in the films

This is a video of what tracer fire looks like from a bystander uneffected by recoil point of view. And a bunch of other crude attached to it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i would vote for slightly shaking cockpits all the time, and when the engine starts, the plane should shake like hell

Tracers shake in gun camera footage because the camera is shaking along with the plane. The camera thus records the otherwise straight "laser like" tracer as a squiggly line.

The pilot is somewhat cushioned from this effect largely because of the extremely impressive ability for the human eye and brain to filter out unwanted distractions.

So the most realistic tracer is the one that looks like a "laser" (actually lasers are beams, these are bolts). This game can do it better than it does...but its quite good.

Of course I know lasers are beams (not as lasers in Star Wars), and tracers of Pacific Fighters looks really good. But, don't you think that they could be a bit less realistic and a bit more visually "exciting"http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif?

How rigidly anyone think the cameras were mounted? Not. Too much vibration too hard
and no more lens or small pieces. See if they wasn't mounted springy, not just on
rubber mounts. Also check as to the weight of them, they are 40's movie cameras made
for field use and not Japanese wonders from the mid 60's and later.

Some people should also check do the tracers wobble the same in different country
guncam movies... but the different cameras and mounts would play a big part there.

Nah. I like the tracers like I like forum posts... straight and to the point. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Tracers are straight and not wiggly unless you fire for a real long time and gun overheats then they wiggle a little. What I would really like to see is an actual "gun camera" in the game where you can watch what you did after a mission is over. It would of coarse be black and white and you would see the tracers as wiggly only while the guns are firing. When the guns stop firing the tracers that are still flying downrange will appear as "normal". There should also be no sound. I do not know why no one has done this yet but would really be a great addition in BoB.

That's quite the sequence in that video mentioned in Cragger's post. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
