Hi Oleg,

first, nice to see you around again.

Would like to ask a question I was wondering about since the release of FB. I remember a pic of the internal DM from one of you dev. updates, which was very detailed.

So how many "target zones" are in the DM of the engines? With what effects? Sometimes you get the message "turbocharger destroyed" but I think there is more `cause (but this may be only my impression) when your engine has taken hits, sometimes it dies very quick and sometimes you can bring the bird home.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Z.

PS.: are you interested in a *.trk with some strange flight behaviour of B17? After damaging the outer right engine and the rudder (almost gone), the B17 flew with around a 45 degree slip (seemed the AI couldn`t compensate the missing thrust due to the damaged rudder). Oki, it lost altitude very quickly, but I don`t think such a slip was possible (but then I`m for sure no expert)

Different planes has different points of damage in angine, but the message for damage of engine itself is just one.

Let say that some flyable aircraft have up to 12 3D "points" of engine and some just one (engine itself). The one, that means full engine itself, have some of old models of planes that wasn't possible to rework in FB. It is most about AI only planes, but several flyable also wasn't possible to modify. For such types we did more common damage model that simulate the 3D damage.

So in our sim are present two models of damage:
1 fully 3D, modelled in 3D destructable devices
2 simulated 3D, where it is simulated only by the program code

Some planes wfrom item 2 above were not tuned very well in FB (I-16, LaGG, FW-190) and they were like concrete planes... In Final 1.2 we corrected these things and these planes wil be damage by bullets more easy than in the past before 1.11 and 1.2.

The first one of DM is more advanced in terms of realistic.
So all new planes we make with such DM from zero. Even AI now. But to rework all the models that are in a sim - for us simply impossible. And we can't give it to third party modellers due to some secret technologies.

In the next sim this system will be increased in terms of precise modeling of internal structural damge due to more complex modeling of them.

However all such advanced modelings take more time in development and tunings. So I don't promise the great amount of planes like in IL-2 and FB in a new sim.
But I promise to expans BoB into MED and other theatres.

Hi Oleg!

This is probably the most interesting post I've read in ORR for some time. Thx for explaining these two DM modes Oleg.

And thx for the MED promise /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

THX for your answer Oleg, very informative.

One more question:

So is there the possibility of different powerloss and/or different time for the engine to die in the more detailed DM`s due to different damages?

email is sent

hehe,

my bad English. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I was asking if it is already modelled in the Sim (as I had the impression). Nice to see it confirmed.

THX again

Z.

as he said, it is already, but there is just the one message which tells you what happend (Engine Damaged / Motor Besch├┬Ądigt). Ther is no message which tells you which part of the engine got hit, but it is, as he said and some old Development Updates show, already in the game (since FB 1.0)

oleg, i was wondering how the 3d damage models will be in bob
will they be like now with damage being the same say for crash and cannon damage, or will they be more "true/real"
im thinkin carmageden 1 and 3, in 1 the cars would bend and not fall apart, in 3 they did both
to haave the later in bob would be awsome /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
i take it u do not want the book i offered u in pm too /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You have all my appreheciation in any way , Oleg !

Permit me simply to recommend you to add the wonderful Giobianco's S.M.79 ( it will be astonishing as a flyable plane) and to cure the mediterranean theater .

Cheers and all my sincere admiration.
