Agreed, testing new sound driver would be great.

I assume this would not be mandatory for all 'users' as there will be no netcode involvement?

Oleg, can you please take a look at the ME-262 bugs?

1.The front wheel do not turn and its very hard manouvering on the ground.

2. During Take off some AI ME-262 planes runs off to the right and crashes 90% of the time or keep on running on ground for several kilometers before they crash (depending on obstacles on ground).

PLEASE... post a link this fix ASAP as the sound as it is now is killing the game for me..

the sound is awsome actually , very detailed its just the delays in gunfire , lowering volume on some sounds, radio chatter disapearing that is really bad..

Big deal, the graphics don't show a castoring wheel. That does not mean the a/c is not steering. I have no problem doing figure 8s, using only brake and rudder to travel from runway to ramp, up and down the runway's length.

That would be great. The sound is killing the whole fun for many players. The patch is really good, although it's not perfect. For example there are still some issues with S3TC or some FMs. But it will never be perfect /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .

Yes, I hope you are feeling and doing better Mr. Maddox.

That would be wonderful if you could release an early sound driver patch.

Is it possible you could make several different versions of the sound driver available for download (e.g. original driver, v 1.1 driver, and v 1.2 driver) so we consumers can try the different drivers out and use the one that works best for our individual systems (and tastes)?

Consumer choice is important and may help alleviate all of the sound complaints from us fans, who own computer systems that are very diverse in their components and specifications.

One main question:

It's been going on for many months that the programmers are not able (maybe some new in the team ?) to bring out a stability sound issue in the running game...

I really wondering ..if this point isn't give up to more special programmers ?


about other more original motorsounds of the planes + 'Dolby' quality I don't want to discuss here...while other game developers are miles away in progress of sound features compared to IL2/FB...

Some more advanced updates in sound features after fixed main problems are welcome...

Sound Problems....
Makes me wonder what kind of sound problems people are having. The only real sound problems i've noticed is with the ai voices....In FB 1.0 i could only hear the actors voices 50% of the time..now after the 1.1b patch i dont hear them at all. I'm using Creative Labs SB Live Sound Card with all the latest drivers. Anyone else having this problem?

One other problem is that i'll loose sound all together...
you can still hear it but it's like some one turned the volume way down. So sound is there and then it's gone, but it comes back on latter. I know that's been reported. Not Sure about the ai voices.

As for any other bugs....I won't even mention the P-47/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
(or lack of a p-47)

It would be very good if FB sound worked as in IL-2 Sturmovik. The sound effects and 3D surround of IL-2 make the player "believe" that the sim is real. Its physiology; the sense of hearing is primodial - it is our primary "WARNING" system. IL-2 Sturmovik used this concept very effectively.
Since we now have IP Ban, could we not have the trim function as in a real aircraft? Flight controls in IL-2 Sturmovik are precise ... offering extreme realism, the "feel" of a real fighter aircraft.
With the sound and flight controls restored, I would be fully immersed again, as in IL-2. And the advanced features of FB offer far more to those seeking an impressive WWII simulation.

Yes, of course agreed Oleg !

First many thanks for 1.1B, it rocks in 90% of points, and the main drawback is the sound, so soon I hope and suppose it to be 98% perfect.

By the way, did you already receive bug reports concerning the FM of the Me262 - it flies and climbs way too slow above 7000m and therefore also its ceiling is way too low.

Bottom line is due to the sound bug its unplayable for me, and as vef/vow use 1.1, I can't use the old version.
All I would like is an idea when I can expect the sound issue patch to be available.

This is very good news from Oleg Maddox!

Why ask about other things here? This part is ready or near ready and it is for a large number of reported problems. That doesn't mean that other parts must wait so what can be to disapprove?

Oleg; so far the beta patch 1.1b has renewed my faith in 1C. I understand that you are in control and release nothing that does not meet good standards and see from how you say beta and later that final standards will be very high, as high as systems and hardware will allow. I hope enormously that the path to release of the next sim will be smoother and more success than even for this.

How do we report bugs when your reporting system has bugs in it.??????

Everytime I say I have a problem with something I'm asked to send a track. The tracks don't work.

So where does this leave the customer.???????????

WTH ?? sorry Lexx, thats utter rubbish.
FM and AI are tweaks that can be made anytime and can be lived with as they are for now, the sound is such a fundamental and crucial part of this sim, it needs top priority.
If you don't fly with sound, it must be like flying with dark glasses in a dark room.
Sound fix is a priority .. all other issues regarding AI and flight models (and that will never be right, because everyones opinion is different, I am happy to accept that Oleg and crew have a far greater understanding of FM than I will ever have, and accept what they do in that field).
Those issues can be dealt with in the fullness of time, but sound should be fixed ASAP. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This time I did some work for you instead of just whinning.

The tracks do work if you follow these steps. When saving the track do not add an extension. Let the program call it.trk.

In other words if you want to call your file XXX just put in XXX cause the program adds the extension .TRK.

I have noticed either memory leakage or uncleaned files after play. It's is not always both. I think some of your cleanup routines are not working proporly or are getting nailed by some sort of exception.

Zone Alarm and this new version of FB is pure hell. After literally ripping my system apart I found that Zone Alarm and FB were in a deadly sieze conflict, going after the same object at the same time. This was causing system lockups and crashes.

I notified Zone Alarm and an update took care of that one.

Sound Glitches. Ckeck your settings. If you have your WAV at the highest volume and the Main Volume at the highest level then during play the sound will crackle away and will only return spuractically.

Turn these volumes down to about 3/4 and voila no more sound problems. SoundBlaster Live anyways.

Now I didn't do all this work for nothing. Please change the role rate of the Hurricane. It's just a little slow

I think I may have found another bug. I was flying a P-47D-22 when I dove to attack some FW-190's I reached 600 Kph TAS and my controls locked up and I could not pull out until I made a crater. I started my dive at 5000M and hit 600 Kph at roughly 4200M, I tried to pull out and level at that altitude and as I said they were locked up, as I kept diving of course I gained more speed and probably compressed. Thinking I may have just had tough luck I tried again in QMB, with the same results except controls locked up at 640 Kph this time. Both times I had no damage and tried flaps to recover too, nothing worked she bacame a lawndart. Has anyone else ran into the same thing?

Not entirely sure if this constites as a bug but here goes.
An observation I have made in regards to gunners on several bomber air craft is they are able to shoot at you well beyond thier limmited archs of fire.
It has happened on several occasions(IL2 gunners for example)that they are able to fire directly through the rear fusalage of there own aircraft scorring a hit while I make attempts to come up low and behind.
Since the patch this has been excadurated even more so than before.

Yes, please fix the sound as soon as possible. It was fine before the patch on my computer. Now it is simply like listening to Oleg and his Bucket 'O Bolts Band playing the soothing sounds of Satan!!! The music tracks play well enough, but while in game, I get a garbled mess with occasional loud exploding noises and variations in sound level.

Also, my vote is for a bug free game. I'm not so worried about add ons and eye candy. Let's fix what we already have before we move on to bigger and maybe better things.

I don't mean to start a flame war or to get people
angry with this post for I'm a huge fan of IL2FB
and have been pleased with all aspects of it up until
this last patch.

Patch 1.1b has made gameplay a drudgery. I think the
FM is garbage (compared to pre-1.1b), the DM is
garbage, and the bugs (especially with sound) are
far more prevalent than past revisions.

I don't know who beta tested this, but it certainly
wasn't ready for prime time. Now we're stuck with this
less-than-optimal patch if we want to fly online.

Examples:
ME262 flies like a brick (try going more than
300mph when not in a dive) but yet shoots like
a tank (one shot obliterates the target). I'm not
an ME262 flier typically but I wanted to test it.
I blew away 9 planes in one mission with ammo to spare
because one shot destroyed the target.

Stalls and flight characteristics seem all screwed up
for some planes. Not happy at all. I was totally happy
with pre 1.1b version. I was flying a Yak and any
turn that even hinted at being tight caused stalls.
When I throttle at 100% in some plane, I can barely
climb. It just seems all wrong.

I landed off runway once and plane was bouncing all
over the place, wingtip to wingtip with no damage. I
mean the plane was bouncing like Tigger on a caffeine
high. This reminded me of what I saw with the original
IL-2. In fact, this patch reminds me a lot of original
IL-2.

Sound is completely garbage but I guess everyone knows that. Changing views can cause engine sounds to cut
out. Going to 0% throttle still has engine sound at
100%. Firing gun sounds cut in and out. and so on...

There's lots more but my point is made. I'm thankful
that Oleg and crew support the game and have produced the
finest combat flight sim ever. I'm thankful for their
efforts. I think Ubi or whoever needs to get a wider
Beta audience to flesh out problems before they are widespread like this patch.

That's all. I hope another patch is forthcoming soon.
