View Full Version : General Chatting and scoring Interface Suggestions for FB...

This probably has been brought up before, but the typing system stinks.

Its too easy to go into macros by mistake...

1: make macros bindable
2: Make the text displayed in the top left (For that matter ALL text) a lot smaller please... its quite huge even on large res and takes up a lot of real estate on screen as well as only having a couple of lines visible at a time unless you make the text window huge
3: Differentiate colours between team chat mode and everyone mode
4: Spectators (or new joiners to the game) should be another colour again - otherwise they get mixed up with the map notifications
5: when you want to type a number at the start the macro function buggers that right up - really anoying
6/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif erhaps highlight when your name is typed - so its easier to tell you're being spoken to in peripheral vision
7/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif erhaps have a separate key bound for team chat and universal chat. - LESS mistakes will be made where enemy gets ur team message


Scoreboard needs some more to it as well i think.
1: Basically the ranks (in dogfight anyway) dont need to be there
2: State the number of deaths a pilot has had (perhaps differentiating by their own fault and being shot down)
3: Perhaps the amount fo time they have been online (or at least how many maps they've been playing for)
4: differentiate between human and ai kills perhaps? - however this gets into the scoring system a bit, at least for dogfighting i think the scoring should be dropped for a more frag like system with maybe just human targets downed and ai targets downed

And im sure people can come up with more...

Basically the typing chat interface is pretty hard to work with and cumbersome, and the scoreboard needs streamlining

anyone agree?

I've seen normal people. I wasn't impressed.

A proper scroll bar for the chat text would be nice as well.


Right now it has to be scrolled with plenty of mouseclicks.

A ready room for dogfight servers would greatly reduce the current join and respawn pauses currently experienced in the game.

Then, a host selectable kill goal, etc... could be used that would require new players to wait briefly until a new game is started.

Of course the game could also continue to be set to allow joins at any time with no victory requirement, but players would be required to enter via the ready room rather than immediately appearing into the game.

we get pauses just on respawn period. I noticed this especially when someone would switch plane type before respawning.

This one should be obvious but:

Split the messages!
------->One for chat
and
------->One for system message!

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why the game messages have to clutter the chat area.
