I have a a MS FFB joystick and have noticed that over the last few game patches the spring tension centering force is almost non existant. I even installed the orginal IL2 and noticed a huge difference in the centering spring tension force.
Could this be addressed in a future patch? Anyone else with MSFFB2 jotstsicks notice the limp feeling or lack of feedback on the x and Y axis?

Hi guys!

On the same topic, about FFB...

I remember when I first started using the sim that the faster the plane went, the stiffer the stick would get. When the plane was stalling or stationary, then only the spring tension of the joystick's settings would be active.

Now, I cannot feel that anymore, I just have the same tension throughout the plane's speed spectrum... Was it just my imagination back then, or has it really there and now it has changed?

Cheers!

It seems that "Use FF" (or smthng like that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ) in joystick options inside of the game is turned off. Check it.

I dont think I've turned off the FFB in the game since I still get flutter effect and rattling from the guns. Its just that the force from the ailerons and elevators is the same regardless of the plane's speed...

I see. Then it is joystick drivers' problem. I have it sometimes, exaclty like you described: either centering or some force effects were missing. I've got it irregulary. When this happens, I usually go to SW control panel and change force settings from med to low and then back or something like that. Just so that stick "catch" its force "calibration". Sometimes it helps me, but I don't get such problems for some time.

I had issues with losing airframe force feedback on my stick, firing mg/cannon would cause this. Eventualy traced the problem to the usb implementation on my mobo ( NF2 ASUS A7N8X-E DLX ). Added a 10 add in usb 1 pci card, pluged the stick into that, had no issues with ffb since then.

hope this helps.

I also had the exact same problem as the original poster and solved it as above. Before the USB card I used to be able to get the forces back sometimes by recopying the FFB files into the game directory.... made it seem like a software issue but since the USB card (1 year now) no problems at all.

I reinstalled the game. Figured it was time to do some spring cleaning. My FFB works fine now.

tonight I learned something about USB ports that so far has cured my MSFF problem
MSFF works better with a powered USB port which ae the ones connected directly to the motherboard, for me these are the two ports on the back.
I was using a USB port on the front of my computer and it is not a powered USB port
Switching has made all the difference
