I have noticed while flying the P-47D that there is (what appears to be) a metal gunsight off to the left hand side.

I am guessing that it is to be used if your standard gunsight is disabled (which has happened all to frequently for me).

If this is so, can anyone advise how it is used? (Does it move or slide to the center of the cockpit somehow)?

Thanks.

You can't use it - without modding.

The only way to use it is to use 6 DOF mod, search for it over at aaa place.

Thank you TinyTim.

I guess for the time being I will go without. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I prefer not having any mods as I fly on servers that do not allow them.

The only I have seen so far to use the metal gunsight was on a Zero. The funny thing was that it slide in over the already functional one?Double sight, double better gunner maybe......or not.(as in this case) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The iron sight on the Zero is weird. I'll see it move to the side when I the game starts, but I can't figure out how to move it back. Once, while taking a beating from a Corsair, the sight moved over by itself. Very weird.

I've only seen the zero's gunsight come over when my aircraft is damaged... i think it's automatic. CTRL D doesn't do anything

In reality iron auxiliary gunsight was manually set into position when reflector gunsight was out of order for whichever reason, but mostly it was there if the bulb in the collimator burned out. In 1946 it's completely automatic, you have no control over it. Funny thing is that it moves into position also when reflector sight still operates perfectly.

Some planes carried some spare bulbs which pilot changed during flight if the one in the collimator burned out.

It moves there when you receive damage. But not always AFAIK.

It's a bead and ring sight. A backup gunsight to the normal gunsight. It's used for deflection shots when the normal gunsight is out of action or used as preference in certain situations. I don't know if it's modelled to work in the game as in RL because I've never had a busted normal gunsight.

The Zero's auxiliary iron sight moves into place automatically (in the game) when the reflector sight is damaged, there is no control for it. The damage textures for the reflector sight are missing for some models of the Zero so it doesn't look damaged when the auxiliary sight moves in to place. This has been a cause for confusion since Pacific Fighters was first released http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
