I found this link interesting --- some transcripts of brief interviews with WWII aces, including Gabreski and Galland. Im not sure if its been linked/posted before but nothing turned up when I searched. I appologise if it is a duplicate.
Some notes: Gabreski talks about the P-47Ds water injection system, how it affected performace and how long they were able to run it for (2-3 minutes). Galland has some interesting things to say about flying the 262. Each also makes some comments about the various capabilities of the enemys aircraft.
Something to help pass the time at work on a Friday... =)

Good reads, pilot accounts are my favorite to read. It is just as I suspected, the Spitfire was the best plane ever made. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Fast, maneuverable, and tough.

I found the comment about the toughness of the Ju-88 interesting, and how he thought it was the best German plane of the war.

P-38 jocks won't like Galland's comment.

Funny how Bader's and Galland's desireable characteristics for a fighter plane were different.

Thanks.

Thanks! Keep 'em coming. Lost my Discovery Wings just when I was beginning not to care about the kids loosing my remote. I was just beginning to dig those Chuck Yeager docs..a meat and potatty kida guy! paraprased: " I like the plane that kills the other flyers the easiest!" lol. 5 kills in one day. I can't even imagine even with Oleg's help. He musta had some ammo hack going.or maybe he was patched! :P
