We know in auor comunity a lot of good artists in skins, missions, maps and softwares for IL-2.
Why Oleg dont let voluntary give works in model new planes and cockpits, Oleg Team will only work in quality control and IL-2 series will be finnished in best way.

Already this has been going on for a long time.

In some cases, MG even pays artists who make unsolicited work. I was happy to receive such a payment when I offered a model for FB.

Even to the present, 3rd parties have been working on the last patch. MG makes full use of anyone willing to contribute to the game.

Mmmm, agreed with skins and such, but models is another thing. In SOW, they will be terribly complex and require thousands of hours to be completed, that means months of work, unless you work in them fulltime... and people have to live on something, you know. Too hard a task to make it fast, not to be paid.

Besides, Oleg's model specs for flawless implementation were really complex and hard to meet in Il-2, I can't imagine how they will be for SoW.

What did you make?

B-17 (G only). Later I made ships for Pacific Fighters, and now I work on a SoW project.

I used to be a modder, just playing around with modeling for kicks. Oleg and Luthier and their team have given me support and encouragement to pursue it as a career. I'm sure the same thing has happened for some other modders who worked on IL-2.

It's no exaggeration to say that MG and RRG are responsible for the small army of skilled people working on IL-2 and SoW products today. The quality is awesome because of this co-operation, and it will be even better in the future, with artists who have had time to practice the craft.

So if I ever sound surly when people talk about 'open source' or '3rd party', this is why http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. If IL-2 was open to amatuer modders and hackers, it would be just like CFS. There would be less, much less planes, less add-ons, and worse quality across the board. And I would still be working at the supermarket.

Thank you very much FritzGriphon! Do you believe we can wait for 4.09 patch?

I believe there are better things to do than wait. The weather is nice outside.
