Greetings guys,
I have recently had my pc fail on me for the third time in almost as many months, motherboard and Hard drive seem implicated.
Since it is bonus time at work, I decided to buy a new rig (I was waiting till BoB,but needs must).
Heres the spec :
AMD Athlon AM2 Dual Core 5200 64 Bit Processor
2048MB DDR2 667MHz OCZ Dual Channel RAM
640GB(2 x 320GB) Serial ATA II Hard drive with 16MB Buffer
nVidia 8800GTX 768MB PCI-E Graphics
16x Dual Layer +R/-R/RW DVD burner
DVD Rom Drive
ADI Sonic 7.1 High Definition Audio With Optical SPDif
Wireless 54G and Gigabit LAN
Logitech Elite Media Keyboard & X7 Laser Mouse

I dont know much about hardware I'm more involved in software,I wondered if this system would allow me to possibly run BoB -even on a low setting?
What do people think about this setup as im a bit in the dark regrding it?
I appreciate almost any opinions http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
cheers dudes

The serious weakness in this system is the AMD cpu and its associated motherboard. The new Intel Core2Duo cpus are simply essential for any new pc purchase unless on a very tight budget which your graphics card ,the 8800GTX, suggests youre not!
Also a Creative Audigy 2 ZS (NOT Soundblaster/Audigy SE etc)or Creative XiFi sound card not only sounds better than onboard sound but also frees up some cpu usage.
These 2 changes in your system should be very seriously considered even if it meant changing the 8800GTX for an X1900XTX in my opinion.....
Ideally I would tell you to wait for BOB to come out .ATI would have its 8800GTX competitor ,Vista might be established etc ....
Is there nothing you can do with your own setup to keep it going till then?I know that if stuff is causing trouble it can seem daunting but it might be worth a try to troubleshoot it .
