Went to see the VE day celebrations in my current city of residence (Southampton) today (mainly because there was an airshow, I should have been doing coursework http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

The pictures I took can be found *HERE* (http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~jdk104/veday.html)

Hope you guys enjoy them, if anyone wants full sized (2048) ones then I'll email em to ya.

Sadly until I can bring my car down next year I have to ride on that bus, but at least now it has a decent name http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yeh it was a real shame about the B17, was looking forward to it as I've never seen one. Gotta love the EU http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Those are great. Thank you - wish I was there to see that.

Some information for your edification. Picture 4 id'ed as a 'tank' is in fact a vehicle called a Sexton. It is a 'Priest' chassis with e 25 pounder field gun mounted in it. It is therefore - self propelled artillery.

Great pics.

I was waiting for somebody to tell me what it was, if there was a sign near it I didn't see it. Thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The weather looks nice there, but it was in fact blowing a gale and JUST before the duxford lot were coming in we caught the edge of a nasty little squall. The planes aparently hung around behind it and came in when it had gone.

Very nice http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It's a shame we didn't get anything like that here in London. We got Shane RichTea, and Sir Cliff instead. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

The powers that be have decided that VE day isn't important enough on it's own to have a proper celebration, so it's being lumped in with VJ day at a date in between the two.

This is likely to be the last big anniversary that many of those involved at the time will see. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Thank you for taking the time to post these..they're great http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I celebrated VE day with a full English breakfast at my favourite Cafe...a ride on my Bonneville down some great country lanes, then a flypast through the town, i live in NW England (Lytham St.Annes)...then to my local Pub for a goodly amount of Ale with my mates, on a glorious but slighty breezy day...there was absolutely no bunting or flags flying...NADA...no celebrations going on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

This country worries me...if only they knew...i guess its no longer PC to celebrate freedom, incase you upset somebody
