Well I finally got my X45 Joystick. I'm still playing the demo of FB. I finally got 2 kills in 1 mission. I can get off the ground, but how do i get speed to climb. I change the flaps to combat...i don't know if im supposed to. But it seems like it takes me forever to get any speed up. Any why in dogfights does it seem like the other plane can turn faster than me? Heaven forbid should i slow down to 200mph, which is what im usually going for some reason. I just feel like im setting there and they keep turning coming straight for me. And bombing, lol, how the heck do I know when to drop the bombs...i can't see below me. Are there keys im missing. As of right now, i won't be buying this game. I knew it would be hard learning but this is ridiculous.

After you take off, lift the gear & the flaps all the way up.Don't try to climb too soon or you will never gain any energy. When you bomb, dive down at the target & let go just before you go over it. Don,t give uo, it takes alot of practice to get any good but it also gets more fun.

It all takes practice. As for gaining speed/alt, after take off bring the flaps all the way up and make sure your gear is up also. Your throttle should be around 90% or so and try to fly straight and level until you get up around 300 kph and then you can start your climb. Every plane turns at a different rate, and some are better at BnZ (boom and zoom) rather than TnB (turn and burn). Bombing is ALL about practice. I like to come in at 30-45 degrees, this is what I have become used to so I just know when to drop the bombs. They don't always hit the mark but they arn't the super weapons of today so this is only expected. You can use the external views to see if you hit your mark.

I hope this helps somewhat, btw you have the IL-2 demo, there isn't one for FB.

Use the external views to make sure, but if u have them turned off then there are 4 settings, raised-combat-take off-landing, it says on the right side of the screen which setting it is at. You might want to adjust the difficulty settings if you are new to this sim, or flight sims in general.

Welcome!

- I can get off the ground, but how do i get
- speed to climb. I change the flaps to combat...i
- don't know if im supposed to. But it seems like it
- takes me forever to get any speed up.

Flaps will give you more lift at the expense of speed. As soon as your gear is up and you are sure to stay airborne, retract all flaps. (you should, in fighters, be able to takeoff without flaps).

Any why in
- dogfights does it seem like the other plane can turn
- faster than me?

Too many variables to answer completely- in brief some planes turn better than others. slowing down and using the combat setting for the flaps will give you sharper turns. The hurricanes and Yak 3 are good turners.

-they
- keep turning coming straight for me.

keep getting wacked in head-ons, eh? perform a barrel roll to avoid getting nailed and try to get on enemy 6.

And bombing,
- lol, how the heck do I know when to drop the
- bombs...i can't see below me. Are there keys im
- missing.

Try flying with the cockpit off until you get the hang of it.

As of right now, i won't be buying this
- game. I knew it would be hard learning but this is
- ridiculous.

This game DOES have a steep learning curve (that's one of its strong points), but if you have given it a fair chance and you feel frustrated then maybe it's just not for you.
