Since I like to play offline campaigns, I have recently started to seriously (http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) play custom/user made static campaigns. Cast Away by Keiron (Dubbo2) was the first that I have finished, it was small one only 11 missions but indeed very very nice.

A great refreshment compared to the dynamic ones.

So what campaigns can you reccomend to me? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Head there...

Any of mine for the Pacific Theater should in theory run on PF merged and non-merged...but I only test for merged as thats what I have installed.

These are the ones I had/have lot's of fun with!

Cats Eyes - by Hot Space

RAF 46Sqn - Norway / An historical campaign by Mariskal

VVS FIGHTERS PT.1 - BY ENFORCER 57 (The reworked original!)

Oh, and there's so many more!

Dubbo's Castaway campaign is top-notch.

A good variety of stuff out there.

I liked:

"The Blue" by Bird_brain, IL-2 Missions page. Hurris and Gladiators in the desert.

"Against Overwhelming Odds" by Dunkelgrun, IL-2 Missions page. Me-163 against B-17s over late war Germany.

"Hellhounds Part 1 and Part 2" by Dubbo, airwarfare.com Not as immersive as Castaway, but still good. P-38s

I'll toot my own horn twice, "Straight and True" by Zeus-cat at airwarfare.com. Tough 30 mission IL-2T (torpedo bomber) campaign. Turn off "No Instant Success".

"Straight Shot" by Zeus-cat at airwarfare.com. Short campaign for the seaplane version of the Zero (Rufe). Different like Castaway.

ditto all the above (well, i havent had a chance to fly dubbos yet, but he was a beta tester on my VVS project with great ideas, so im sure its great...gotta find the time).

Also, cactus dairy by bird brain,as well as el alemein and the others.

and of course, when tigers could fly, by chuck older, although i had to reduce the skill of the medium bombers to rookie to survive the robot gunners-is a true work of art.

I also like hurricanes over russia (blast, cant remember the author right off-my appologies to him).

VP media's cmpns are pretty good...im doing the one about the hungarian air force now (when im not doing my own project).

ive got so many cmpns im flying that ive run out of room for pilots.

and the new singapore buffalo NZ cmpn whose author and even the correct name escape me rt now.....sheeesh, im getting old.

Cactus Diary is good. Geez, how could I forget that one!

Cactus Diary is definitely one of the better campaigns available (thanks BB!). Don't forget "The Blue", or "When Tigers Could Fly" either.

I did that one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I wish it were longer...but lack of details unfortunately.

If you like Hurricanes, try "Battle Over Britain" by Extreme_One and Poymando. Lots of fun. You can tell a lot of time was spent putting it together.

Grab anything by Icefire, and any of Ian Boy's campaigns made for the original IL2.

Yo, Kuna!

I've personally done When Tigers Could Fly, El Alamein, Against Overwhelming Odds, Cactus Diary, Grumman Hellcat, and Castaway. I recommend them all.

In progress I have The Blue and Two Little DUCs.

The one I'm sticking to at the moment is Straight and True. I've completed 16 missions. It's a good break from the usual fighter campaign and it is creatively done. Neat little details and pre-flight breifings on the level of Castaway.

My problem is I can only fly about 1 mission every other day due to being too busy.

Check this out from Straight and True. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Oooh....

Hey guys thanks for reccomendations, I will surely give 'em all a try.

Custom made campaigns are in general a shorter then stock (default) campaigns and much more immersive.

I am currently playing Russian fighter (default) campaign, I'm on 140th mission and while it can be interesting at times it is somewhat 'industrial' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif... one mission is a lot like the other.

One of the most immersive and informative campaigns I ever flew was called 'Experten'. I have no clue if it's still around but it had 100 missions and you assumed the role of new, grunt pilot in JG outfit. Highly recommended it you want something epic yet packed full of historical information relating to Operation Barborossa.

ps - I would mail it to you if I had it but a sudden reformat of my hard drive resulted in the loss of that awesome campaign.

What a good thread here..

I don't want to hijack it, but gentlemen, please tell me where i could get a good F4U-1A (or D-model) campaign without having to register for silly things http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm currently playing the '44 Palau default PF campaign in the F4U-1A Corsair but it's not all that good.. the AI annoys me the way it behaves (ALL go after me) and it's the same story already for 4 missions after another..I want something a bit better - if available

Great find! I'm going to have to have to refly it under the 4.01m. It was masterfully made. Very well populated maps but not a frame rate killer. If you like early planesets like the E4, it's for you. This is a great campaign to test your DID discipline http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I failed of course!

@stubby I also love early planesets, they have some special charm. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Also I like the thing that custom made campaigns make a record more accurately than dynamic stock ones about kill tally and also about pilot's aircraft that are lost. That part should IMHO be in dynamic engine as well.

@73GIAP_Milan did you looked at airwarfare and flayinglegends? On airwarfare and flyinglegends I found VMF-214 Campaign (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_campaigns.htm#031), and I see screenshot of Corsair. You can check that one out.

I've played lot's of third party scripted campaigns and they are all good for the most part, an they're free! On the other hand, try the 24 mission demo campaigns available at
http://www.pluswave.de/html/pwx_english.html

called Wings over Waves and Rebirth of Honor. It's very well done, but you'll have to pay for the finished product. I havn't bought any of their products so I can't comment on them other than the demo campaign. It's top notch! You can fly a Ki-61 mini-camp in the demo, I think it's worth the dl just for the skins! Maybe someone who has played a full PlusWave campaign can comment?? Just another example of the great stuff you can get!!

I've purchased both, and they are VERY good. Best flown full real, and with a lot of time to do many missions in a row. there's a little bit of an honor sytem involved as you have to turn off 'no instant success' and completing each mission is it's own reward.

ROH features many movies and an interesting 'what if' scenario. A little idealistic for my taste (so far...haven't finished...very long) but I think a lot of folks who fly this tend to be that way anyway and would get a kick out of it.

WOW is similar, but no movies. missions are good. have been surprised and shocked often.

with both of these you have to ask yourself: worth the price? For me, yes. A bonus is there is an enormous collection of skins you won't find anywhere for planes that are hard to find skins for nowadays since IL2skins went down, you can weigh that in.
