View Full Version : Over Zealous

While I can respect and understand the need of a forum moderator to keep posts and topics on topic (I help administer 3 forums myself) I'm a bit put off by this forum's moderator's apparent over-zealous use of the thread locking.

Apparently asking about the upcoming sound fix is taboo in ORR? It never appeared to be that way before. I was under the impression that this was the correct forum to post questions to Oleg and Co. about upcoming and current issues within his game. Not the General Discussion forum, nor the Tech forum, but rather the apparent "source" where the community can get pertinent info about FB and its progress.

A disappointed forum user. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

A read through the first page of ORR will show that the sound bugs have been reported:

http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view-topic.asp?name=Olegmaddoxreadyroom&id=zuykf&tpage=1

So there was not really a need for one new thread on the subject let alone two as there was already a thread for this!.

Reports of a fix on the Russian Forums is news to me, I think it's related to the partial fix mentioned in the above thread, nothing final is available. AFAIK it may still be being worked on.

Nothing over zealous, just trying to keep this forum usable for the majority, not for the few who think their complaint should be in a new thread to make their opinion heard.

What opinion Snoopy? All I did was ask a harmless question about when the new sound drivers would be released for us? Where is the opinion in that??

I was hoping to hear something from someone in a position to give that info out (i.e. Oleg, etc.). That's all.

I think Snoopy's point is that you didn't have anything new or necessary to add on the issue and felt it was just cluttering up the forum. No biggie that you didn't realize this yourself and it wasn't a personal attack on you.

We're all waiting for the sound fix but it's been heard and commented on by Oleg so all there really is to do is wait.

Don't take it personally. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

cheers!

One gets the feeling that Ubi does not want ORR to be full of bug reports.

The Information Minister says FB is free of all infidel bugs. No one dares even ASK about the status of bugs because the great Oleg already knows about every possible issue. We are not worthy of a reply, so don't bother asking. This is not really a forum; it's an advertisement for Ubi products.

Post as many bug reports as you see fit, but one thread per issue is sufficient to alert the necessary people.

I see a fourth thread concerning the sound issue was posted. Do you think this clarifies anything?

If a valid bug is found only one thread is needed to make the point. Multiple threads on one issue allowed to run unchecked only results in other valid issues being lost in the noise.

Just look at the number off FW190 view threads to see what I mean.

All I did was ask a simple question as to when, if anyone knew, would the drivers be available. I wasn't banging on the issue. I just asked a queston Re: time frame for release.

A thread with an official reply from a community manager, Oleg, a 1C coder or even a moderator would clarify things greatly. In the absence of such feedback people are going to keep <s>banging</s> asking about known bugs. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Remember: it's an "open" beta. We give them feedback, they give us feedback. Unfortunately the iron curtain seems alive and well at 1C:Maddox headquarters.

Some people just can't get over themselves. "Oh, I feel so insulted that MY unnecessary thread was deleted! Oleg and UBI are evil tyrants conspiring against ME!"

Sorry man but that's what it reads like to me. You may now proceed to get all defensive and call me a brown-noser if you like. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

What a silly post PriK. Since it seems that you and others here are incapable of actually taking the time to READ things (and would rather sensationalize them) I think we should revisit my original post (the one that got locked unnecessarily).

What a harmless question. All I did was ask a question to Oleg, and/or those in a position of knowledge that might be able to give this community an idea of when those drivers would be released. Nothing more, nothing less. I know that there is a problem with the sound, you know there is a problem with the sound, everyone flying this sim knows that there is a problem with the sound. My original post was not another "unnecessary" post about a sound problem. It was a QUESTION about when the sound fix (drivers) would be released! This is, and should be, the forum in which to interact with the game's creator and producers. That question was legitimate and valid, and was in no way intended to rehash the problems people are having, but was rather a direct question about when the fix would be released.

Dart, what if I asked you 1000x times every day when the US is going to pull out of Iraq?

If they knew when it was finished, don't you think they would already have mentioned it?

Oh, so my original question is getting asked 1000 times a day,every day eh? Please, show me those 1000 questions and I'll apologize for asking it for the 1001st time. {rolls eyes}

A simple answer from Oleg, or anyone else in a position to answer the qeustion, one way or the other was all that was called for.

Indeed

have you ever thought about the possibility that the 'answer' isn't as simple as you might think?

Give me a break. If you feel the need to continue to convolute this thread and the original question there is little I can do about it.

The fact remains, regardless of the particular spin you or others try to put on it, that my original question was simple, and required only a simple answer from those in the know. A simple "Yes we know and this is when we think it will be ready", or a "No we don't know yet", or anything similar would have sufficed.

ok, I will give you a break /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif sorry, but I had to say something /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I agree fully, but Oleg already indicated something which should put you at ease (see the thread "Bug Report" by Oleg if you haven't already, but I doubt it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif there are also numerous questions about the release date ).

he says that the sound fix will be released before the next patch, and, as soon as possible.

Accept this 'vague' timeframe for now /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

ps: give the poor guy (Oleg) a break like I gave you a break /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif let him and his people concentrate 100% on the upcoming fix/patch
