Ninjas. A ninja can just use his bowstaff and pretty much kick a$s.

The ninja will win, why?

when the Pirate is charging, the Ninja just throws his iron tanto in the poor Pirate's eye, and couse he only have one eye couse of the patch over his other, he will get blind, so then it is just a piece of cake for the Ninja to swing his Ninja sword and chop the poor Pirates head of when he runns around without his eyes screaming http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I will go against majority and say: pirate.

I can think hard but nothing better than; --pirate can use his guns muskets and bombs (yes, that's right those nasty black-balls with fuse), as well as hooks for last desperate attempt.-- comes to my mind currently.

So if I think really hard about this one, in this case weight (inertia) will decide the fight, and it will be a draw.

kinda depends on the indavidual ninja and pirate. actualy i take that back. pirate would win. while that little ninja was swinging his little sword or staff the pirate would just shoot him in the head with his musket then steal his thrown stars. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

ninja. id say 8 out of 10 times.

pirates guns sucked. katanas have been around a looong time, and were well mastered. no such thing as a pirate with consistant good aim with a round ball and a lil powder.
maybe a lucky shot or two , but thats it.

NINJA WINS.. end of discussion.

Don't you guys know the primary rule where ninjas are involved? The more ninjas, the more they suck. This is a known fact derived from countless B japaneese movies involving ninjas. Anytime there is a whole hoard of ninjas, they get their *** handed to them. If there's just one, prepare for the fight of your life.

Based on this, I'd say the ninja would win. Now, if the ninjas outnumbered the pirate, it'd be the other way around...

kweassa

Actually, the grand majority of ninjas were covert operatives, who see none or little combat, if at all. Infiltration was usually done at lower levels, and rarely would ninjas really scale walls, climb towers, enter castels and kill people.

These guys were a guild of information sellers, not necessarily the super combat assasins as movies like to portray.

Oh for Gods sake, this thread could go on forever.

Lets see some facts here...charts anyone?

WWSensei
07-03-2005, 06:30 AM
No charts but we can make some reasonable, logical assumptions.

Climb Rate: Now, pirates would potentially have the advantage here at first thought due to having to climb ropes for sails and such. Only problem is they climb well only with ropes and on a boat rocking to the waves. On dry land that isn't moving they only climb as good as a normal person.

Ninjas are trained to climb. Now, according to "experts" ninjas didn't climb that much but being decent athletes and general assassins they climbed better than average--but only at night. Hollywood ninjas, however, kicked some serious butt making even Spiderman jealous.

Advantage: Ninjas.

Firepower: You got your one shot brace of pistols and a cutlass versus throwing stars and katana. Now, based on my experience playing Sid Meir's Pirates (which according to Video Game Forum Rules Of Engagement On Arguing Over Pointless Details playing several hours of a video game makes me a qualified expert on the chosen subject matter.) the brace of pistols is at best a 2 shot weapon and doesn't seem to inflict much damage.

Throwing stars can put your eye out. For proof I refer you to the South Park episode where Cartman, Stan, Kenny and Kyle were playing Ninja when they ran into Lord Chaos played by Butters. Kenny took out Butters eye in one shot. Then they shaved his head and made him look like a dog. Now, if an inexperienced cartoon seven year old kid can take an eye out and turn someone into a dog throwing a single star just imagine what a flipped out ninja would do.

We'll call the cutlass and katana a draw.

Advantage: Ninja

Bling-Bling: Ninja wore black clothes and no jewlery that could reflect a light or make a sound as they move. Pirates have treasure chests full of gold coins, wear earrings, wear bright, shiny pants (reference: Pirates of Pensance).

Advantage: Pirates, by a HUGE margin.

Visibility: You can see a pirate coming a mile away. (ref: Bling-Bling section above). They also usually have only one eye (come on, everyone knows real pirates always have an eyepatch). Ninja are invisible or nearly so. Nuff said.

Advantage: Ninja

Communication: Pirates sing and cavort and say "Arrrrr" a lot. Ninja don't talk. Ever.

Advantage: Pirates

Multi-Ninja/Pirate engagement: Pirates fight well in a group. According to my irrefutable source (yeah, SM's Pirates! again) the more pirates you have the better you are at capturing more bling.

As someone else noted, countless movies have demonstrated that multiple ninjas simply suck. For reference of a recent nature you can refer to Kill Bill Vol2 were a single ninja trained woman de-legged the Crazy 88s ninjas. Since they were all ninjas it is apparent the only advantage she had was fighting alone. We can also refer to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were 4 ninja trained amphibians routinely butt-whooped hordes of ninja trained Foot soldiers. Imagine if there had only been one Turtle. He would have ruled the world!

Advantage: Pirates!

So, as you can see I think we can call this one a draw and victory would be determined by the actual battle conditions. For example, if a group of pirates ran into a group of ninjas on ships at sea in the daytime the pirates would rule. If a group of pirates ran into a single ninja at night on land the ninja would rule.

Pick your battlefields carefully.

But researsh has proved (various drunken conversations in seaside pubs with old men that look like pirates) that the pirate eyepatch was in fact a navigational aid. The patch would be flipped up at night to enable use of an eye used to darkness.
Plus if kick to goolies with wooden leg on a slider was permitted, the ninjas wouldn't stand a chance.
The only possible advantage the ninjas might have would be fuel consumption - I've mislaid my rum to saki conversion chart but you get the idea, I'm sure.

Sorry, drunken quasi-sailor stories don't count. Show me a movie or video game displaying this power and I'll concede the point.

Pirates have cannons. Major advantage.

True, true, but I was considering one on one close quarter fighting and not vehicle fighting. Clearly, grape-shot loaded cannon would swing the fight in faor of the pirates but they are more likely to have those at sea where the pirates already have an overwhelming advantage.

Pirates will win hands down. They have sails on a slider and if used in manual mode they'll climb like monkey. They also have the PK-108 gun pods...er gunports that pwun little silly ninjas . Not forget the uber Salt Water/Rum50 Injection that's soo uber. and now since the patch you know the clear advantage of leadingage Sails in turn fight.

A pirate would BnZ ninja with his musket. He just has to watch not to slow down, when ninja would outturn him. Ninjas keep energy very good, but are slow in dives, so a pirate's only way is to have some alt below him to dive away.

You're all forgetting the fact that pirate's swords are exposed to salty, corrosive air of the sea. This is a huge advantage for the ninja's katanas since ninjas almost never fought in the open seas.

When a pirate fights a ninja, his sword will be easier to break or at least becomes dull. That's why we often see pirates carrying a spare sword.

Now it'll be different case if the pirate's swords are made from the delta wood.

Pirates are used to hot climates, unlike ninjas. If a ninja fights a pirate on pirate's terrain, he will overheat quickly and will have to decrease power. Then the pirate will be able to either climb above the ninja or simply walk away.

Also, ninja won't be able to disengage - the pirate will chase him down at hit him with his musket.

Pirates also have longer range and can stay up longer.

Hristos, Buddy.

Before Gibbage jumps my rear, you sig line is incorrect.

The lines are from Blue Oyster Cult's "Secret Treaties" album, the specific song...."ME-262".

The lines should be:

Goerings on the phone from Frieburg
Said "Willie's done quite a job."
Hitler's on the phone from Berlin
Says "I'm gonna make you a star".

The song is about the ME-262, not the Focke Wulf. Man, historical revisionism at its worst. How can anyone trust a word you post from now on?

Just kidding of course. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Great song, with an absolute KILLER pencil drawing of the ME-262 on both covers. A riff to die for, as the Cult blasts its way through an air combat song. Lots of todays youth, numbed after listening to hip hop and pop music, probably lack the intensity required to enjoy it. Kidding again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And I disagree about the Pirate range thing. What are your references?

BTW I think Hristo has the point, since ninjas and pirates obey force of gravity -- pirate must be somehow better in BnZ, if for nothing than for it's heavier construction.
