View Full Version : Little known facts about the Hawker Hurricane.

Now that it's generally accepted the the hurricane was the best plane in WW2 I thought I would share some little known hurricane facts.

-The hurricane's design was strongly influenced by secret government research into a UFO that crashed in northern Scotland in 1929.
-The 40mm vickers cannons fitted to IID and IV mks could stop time.
-Following the resurection Jesus ascended to heaven in a mkIIB.
-The 'Picard manouver' was first carried out by pilot officer Jonny Picard or No 1 sqn during the battle of France.
-The cooling system of the first prototype used the tears of unwed mothers instead of glycol.
-Unlike many other contempory aircraft the mkIA could be comfortably flown in a ball gown.
-No hurricane flown by a pilot who's name ended in a q was ever shot down.
-Sputnik was launched from a hurricane.
-Canadian built mkXs were not assembled by elves.
-Secret war ministry documents reveal that flying a huricane during a full moon whilst naked gave the pilot magic powers. The exact nature of those powers is still classified.
-A restored mkIIC once successfully intercepted an SR71.
-If you laid out all the wirring from a hurricane you would have enough wire to fully wire a hurricane.

All true that.

Hi all,

It's all true! Hurricanes continue to fly today as an immediate response Squadron to counter meteor impacts on planet earth.

The cannon dispersion is set at 18,500 miles and secret tests have validated the tactic.

See EarthDefence.gov.co.uk

This is all top secret classified stuff you are revealing here, you realise you could disappear in a mysterious freak accident.

I totally agree she is a wonder weapon, i have finally decided to go back to her, purely on the grounds that atleast Josf and the other nerd nazis wont hijack a thread and claim her to be over-modelled... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Wasn't the Hurricane also capable of growing another wing in case it needed it?

It has become quite obvious to me that Oleg has a serious bias against planes named after meterological phenomomomem.

Let us look at the evidence.
-The horrendous under-modelling of the mighty Hurricane.
-The whole P38 Lightning compresabilty thingy.
-Falure to include aircraft, how long did we wait for a Tempest? And where are the Tyhoon, Whirlwind and of course the Avro Slightlydrizzlyonanovercastday!

Damm you Oleg damm you to Hull!

OK, let me get this straight, if I was a Hurri Pilot flying Hurricanes like a Bat outta Hell, that would mean I could win over Catherine Zetta Jones from what's-his-name? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The last varient of the Hurricane, the "MK2001 Stealth" is still flying undetected at a blistering 398mph.
Fitted with long range tanks it takes only 15 years to cross the Atlantic where it spies on the latest American failures to emulate its
stealth qualities.
Hovering at 20 metres it sends vital info back to Bexley Park (using the strange alien code called "morse") about the evening menue in the officers mess in area 51.
Sadly its days are numbered as its hi-tech replacement the "Fairy Battle Sleek Sneek" is about to enter service. Due to its capability to fly inverted during stealth configuration its pilots have to be drawn from downunder.
These specialist pilots are well suited as they are experten in flying upside down and only occasionly spill their Fosters. As you can imagine spilling your Fosters into the top secret valve radio would be disasterous as no way could they receive the latest coded transmissions of "Coronation Street" if this was to happen.
Oops just spilt my Fos*&^%%$3_--------

Ps. The secret interrogation method of British secret service was to tie the poor unfortunate into a heavy chair, tape his eyes open and place him in front of a large plasma screen and then, (and this is surely against the Geneve Convention} play episodes of "The East Enders' until he cracked, this happened usually before the first adds came on.

The Portuguese variant of the Hurricane, known as the 'Ronaldo' could run rings around the opposition with it's dazzling moves. It had a nasty habit of going to ground, however. An excellent diver with a great roll rate. Good long range shooting ability.

Then why do I always get pwned when I fly one of the crates?

I obviously am not in the 'know' as I haven't been told the secret code for activationg its super-powers. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Nonetheless, it IS sexy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Are you correctly setting your Barnett's Wimple valve and reducing traction sproglingfurtle?

Of course don't forget IRL you would have the Grumwauld's thrutching gear which is not modeled in the game. Which is part of the woefull under modeling of the Hurri. And err ribbet ribbet.

THAT'S IT! After setting my Wimple valve to its highest setting it now does warp factor 3 and climbs to 100,000 ft 2.2 seconds! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

There could be an argument that thanks to the hurricane there was still a war to be won in western europe.

On to more important things, did you know that at a certain RPM the sound of the Pacard built Merlin 28 in the Canadian built MKX could induce a hibernation like state in brown bears?

Exhaust from Hurricanes running on sugar-cane ethanol Merlins in the Far East was also known to develop stages of hallucination and aggressive euphoria commonly associated with PCP-laced LSD.

Luckily an antidote to these effects existed in the traditional British cure all of 'a cup of tea and a little lie down'.

P.S That's an aircraft I hold in nearly the same affection as the ol' hurri for many of the same reasons.
