As I put on my tin hat and take cover,I know that my post count is not very high, and I am playing the original game, for about 4 months now. My system, I think is average (P4 2.53mhz, 64mb nvidia graphics card. But I do have 768mb of memory, thanks to the forum I upgraded because the consensus was that a memory upgrade gave good vale for money, it did). I am still leaning to fly well offline (in a FW 190 A4, seemed to be recommended a lot in the forum). I am now able to hit other planes in QMB since learning how to set weapon convergence due to the forum (300m).
I can catch a stall and pull out of it, thanks to the forum (kill throttle, let go stick, lots of opposite rudder).
As you can see I spend a lot of time taking in what you guys (and girls) post.
I was gob smacked by this game last night. I set up a QMB me v 4 TU bombers. I set the time on the Crimea map to 06:30. It was beautiful. Mist in the valleys, the sky and clouds streaked with red as the sun just started to light the horizon. As the mission went on the light began to change as I chased the planes this way and that. After that I tried Moscow at 05:30. Again pick up jaw from floor. A moon (two thirds full) shone in the cloud streaked sky. A small glow appeared on the horizon as the sun began to wake up As I attacked the flight my tracer could be seen, red, glowing, falling off into the distance. I bank and swoop round to see my plane picked out by the moon light, stars pepper the sky.
What I am trying to say is that in the scheme of things with this game, I don't care if my victory roll is too quick, I have never done one in a real plane so I can't compare it. If I am too rough with the stick it will kick me in the backside. For me its real enough. I bought this game because of reputation as being the best there is. Be thankful for what you have. (married man, two kids, in forties)

"As you can see I spend a lot of time taking in what you guys (and girls) post."

I think one of the problems here is there are NO girls. Maybe its a Ubisoft conspiracy. If they were here the whiners wouldn't know what to get off on...and there goes half the forum.

Actually I think it does...

A low post count means you probably have a life.

Here Here!

I am so addicted to this game that I rarely play any others now. None of my friends can convince me to do more than check out a demo of another game. No matter how good it may be I return to IL-2 Forgotten Battles.

(the only game that might take me away from FB for...maybe...1 night a week...maybe...will be Half Life 2...maybe. [Half Life was the first game I played all the way through.])

With all it's flaws IL-2 Forgotten Battles is still the most realistic, immersive, intense sim I've EVER played.
