Just finished reading a book about VVS aircraft and found some interesting variants of aircraft that were built only in small numbers (less than 300). For example a Yak 9K with the ability to install a engine mounted Vya-23 23mm cannon instead of the NS45. (would give a higher ammo capacity with still heavy armement) There were also verions with 20mm B-20 instead of the 12.7mm UBS (like the Yak9UT). These variants would (in my oppinion) mean only small changes in the aircraft spec tables and no changes to the visual model (exept for shortening the gun barrel of the nose cannon). The guns are already implemented in the game.
There's also the nice I-153 with 4 x 12.7mm BS (absolute killing machine!).

Such small series or even field mod variants are available on the MiG3, P40, Hurri, ... So why don't make them for others?

Would be just great to have larger aircraft choice at only a small cost of developement work.

Well, mabe you could use the 109g2 wing cannons for the Fritz but i don't know if this wouldn't require major model reworking as the gunpods are a very visable change but i guess as the g2 and f4 airframe are most equal it should be possible. By the way - a Fritz with gunpods: would be the killer!

The GM1, i think, would be a problem (although it would be great on a g14), cos it would require major modification to the engie model and this would include change of the aircrafts speed characterisitcs which in my opinion would mean looots of testing and tuning.

By the way - GM1 - there was one on the E7Z - but where has it gone? Is it engaged automaticllly or does it require a key diffferent from the WEP-key? Cos i'm unable to use it since FB!

No, he got a specially modified model internal wing cannons...i searched and all i could find was this modelplane box cover art.

There was the "Bf 109F-4/R6 which was fitted with an extra pair of 20mm MG 151 cannon in underwing gondolas. The increase in firepower was made at the request of General Adolf Galland and other top Luftwaffe fighter aces. " (from www.bf109.com (http://www.bf109.com)) also.

Visit

there you'll find a foto of the BF 109 F-4 / R1 with underwing MG 151/20 gunpods - and also a F-4 / R6 that only has an additional bomb rack but no wing cannons
(information on aircraft seem to differ in any sources)
