Watch out, Von. OpB is kind of a sore spot with a few posters on this forum. Lots of complaints about the quality, and questions as to the propriety of third party companies making moolah off'f FB. Consider me neutral on this subject, I'm just warning you about a likely flame fest that might be coming this threads way.

its just skins and missions get them for free at www.il2skins.com (http://www.il2skins.com) and www.mudmovers.com (http://www.mudmovers.com)

pay 19 bucks and your a sucker dont believe the advertising which says you get new planes with operation barbarossa

hell so many of us spend hundreds of hours making them for free for everyone why should these ripoffs charge for them.

Yea I wouldn't pay $ for this "add-on". Kinda reminds me of add-ons for the CFS series.

OK, I understand the mission pack leaves a bad taste in some people's mouths, but I have the same question.

Has anyone actually purchased this? Are there any real differences from the downloadable Operation Barbarossa from a few months ago?

The reason I ask is because I played the first few missions of the original (when it was a free download) and was very impressed. Now I'm waiting on the FB patch before diving back into the IL-2 world.

I understand that this new mission pack has updated the original campaign for IL-2 FB - can anyone confirm if there really are any differences worth $20, or is that just marketing BS?

Thanks,

Istari

hi
yeah i bought it when i bought the game(il2)(didn t know could dl it for free) it is actually pretty good, but doesn t
work very well with fb.
i played til the 29 mission then ai started crashing in to
each other or me.played like that for couple missions then gave up,tried it after the "patch" didn t help, the "patch"
is only reworked intros and movie.if it worked better and you have a slow connection i would recommend it it was fun in il2.the planes were 512by512 in my ver. so useless for fb.hope this helps.

After it was refeuled i climbed in.With many manipulations the mechcanics started the turbines.I followed their actions with the greatest of interest. The first one started quite easily.the second caught fire.In no time the whole engine was on fire.Luckily as a fighter pilot i was used to getting quickly out of the cockpit. The fire was quickly put out.The second plane caused no trouble - Adolf Galland (first time in a ME262)

there is a new friendly FB version out I believe, not bothered myself as if i want a skin i paint it myself.. might be interested if the online missions are any good, never played the game offline though... I do agree what was said earlier in the thread about skins though, you can get them just as good for free online /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

As for making money of FB...... OH Come On.... look at the add ons you can buy for FS2002 etc, why should this be different, end of the day its an extra for the game and that HAS to be good..

barbarossa never actually claimed to add new planes.

The claim was that it now incorporated the new FB planes into its missions and skins but people read it wrong.

I bought 3 payware addons 1 double trouble and damnbusters for cfs2/fs2002 and the p61 from abacus, each were 20+ and I returned them immediatly and been anti 3rd party payware eversince. Only way to stop it is inform the community what you really get then it will cease to exist.

Now donations is a different story if someones putting out many planes like gibbage i'll throw him 20 bucks with paypal http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I work for Matrix Games. The USA Publisher of OpBarb.

The Director of Operations here at Matrix Games sat down with Oleg at E3 this year and worked out a deal for this and other add-ons. So we have full permission to sell these add-ons. Do you really think we could get away with it if we didn't have permission?

No. However, not to speak for anyone else, but some here seem to feel the product is cheesy. Fair or unfair you guys seemed to have pizzed off some consumers. Good luck.

I bought OB and used it some with IL-2. I haven't loaded it onto FB. I thought it was an okay purchase for $20.

To be honest I have never seen a conplaint about Barbarossa from anyone who has actually bought it only praise.

Most of the criticism seems directed at the entire idea of payed add-ons rather than any problems with Barbarossa itself.

There is also a "net elitism" going on, with cable people assuming because they can download 100's of mb of free add-ons everyone else can as well. People playing offline without net download ability may well think Barbarossa is a bargain.

Well hopefully oleg will see how we all feel about 3rd payware addons and change it making missions transferable and work. You guys ruined a good thing for alot of people

By you guys being greedy you screwed up our ability for our missions to be transfered online and work. Its a major problem to the community ruining a good thing we had in sturmovik and I hope 1c decides to change thier minds. And every few weeks you guys make a newuser account with 0 posts saying have you tried operation barbarossa its so great you should get it. damn shameless promo I just went to let everyone know the missions are made well but not worth it and they are all out on websites remade to the exact details of your product which users have spent alot of time on recreating. if you want to buy it go ahead but I just want 3rd party payware to not be in il2, one of the things that made il2 sturmo stand out from the rest and one of the reasons I left MS series. Also on your box you say it includes planes trying to get suckers to buy it. I hope you get sued for false advertising. you also charge more then half the price 20 bucks for missions and skins comon dude 29 bucks for fb which took a hell of alot more work then mission making and skinning took. The people of the community should take that into consideration and let oleg know how they feel about this.

@ Leadspitter. I have never made a new account here and posted like that. I spend most of my time on my own companies forums this is why my count is slow low here.

Just to let you know I posted reviews on amazon gamspot ign letting people know about this product heres the review

I would just like to warn people about this product. You do not get new planes! All you get is a couple skins and missions. These people are ripping you off charging you $20 for some missions and skins don't fall for it. The game il2 FB sells for $29 think about the amount of work required for OB and think of the work put into il2 FB. Yes they are nicely made but you can get even nicer missions from www.mudmovers.com (http://www.mudmovers.com) for free and all your paintschemes you ever wanted here www.il2skins.com (http://www.il2skins.com)

Many of us make these free and at the highest quality even better then whats included in operation barbarossa.

Leadspitter Out.

Just an example some of my work
