I recently switched my 19" monitor to a 18.1" LCD screen and the first thing I noticed was that the cockpits of the P-47 and P-40 are not dark anymore.

I can now see everything just fine.

I used to have these black struts but now they are green and shows all the details on it.

Seems your monitor was quite old, hm? Or maybe just not correctly adjusted?

I am not the only one who has these dark cockpits, and the monitor was not old or incorrectly adjusted since all other cockpits were just fine light wise.

If the only differnce is the monitor then it is possible that it was not correctly tuned. Getting the gamma settings right will bring out the mid tones.

I don't use a monitor anymore, it's an LCD screen now, totally different.

There were several posts here a while back where people complained about SOME cockpits being too dark.

All other cockpits were just fine.

Please explain to me how it can be a gamma setting if all other cockpits are fine and all other games I play or web pages I view are all just fine.

The monitor was not old or bad quality, it's an IIyama 19" that I bought last year and it's still being used by my girlfriend and so far I didn't hear a single complaint of it being too dark.

Fine monitor: should have no probs, I'm looking at one now. No answers to the LCD thing though.

Cheers.

I suspect that LCD's have a different color balance to CRT's and that maybe some of the third party texture artists work on LCD's......only a hypothesis, but it would explain this phenomenon.
