I played IL2 initially about a year ago, and am just getting back into it. I bought the IL2 Gold Pack and Pacific Fighters separately then, but I see now that in order to play online with most of the community you really need 1946. It is possible to purchase 1946 just as 1946. For example, I already payed $40-50 for each PF and the Gold pack, do I need to pay $40-50 for the 1946 DVD even though I've already got the previous 2/3 installments?

Thanks

I only paid about $25 (if I'm remembering correctly) for IL-2 1946 ...I'm sure there are better prices around.

No, there is no way to separate 1946 from the rest of the package. Pretty much all of us bought 1946 and we don't have to install the old versions of the game at all as 1946 comes with all of the old content, plus the new content, plus the mission/campaign content from the original IL-2 and all for about the same price as I paid for the Ace Expansion Pack...so its a pretty good deal if you can find a lower price somewhere.

And if you live in the U.S. it's available at Circuit City and Best Buy for $20. Can't remember the price but you can also get it here: www.gogamer.com (http://www.gogamer.com)

1946 is everything as one package. It includes ALL of the previous releases in one package. As has been stated, you can pick it up for $20 in the US and it is one heckuva deal at that price.

Download my "Straight From the Farm" campaign to practice takeoffs and landings (see the link below). The campaign starts on land and then moves to carrier operations. The campaign covers a lot of the basic functions that you need to map like whell chocks, dive flaps, dive bombing sight, etc.

Also check out the Nuggets' Guide on the General Discussion forum for more tips on how to fly.

if you want to play online you'll find most people play at Hyperlobby. Information on that is in the Nuggets' Guide.

UbiSoft France/UK has a download that is only the v4.05m-4.07m expansions (ie, "1946"). However, I believe it costs more than the full 1946 pack.

The new content in 1946 was originally designed to be three separate paid expansions. $20-$30 for three expansion packs is a pretty good value. Having it all presented as a single install is nice also.

Alright, thanks a lot guys. I'm probably going to go to the direct 2 drive route or ubisoft online download store route because I've looked around locally and can't even find the package, regardless of price.

Thanks
