View Full Version : When are we getting the real patch?

Here we are, all fighting over the latest patch and deciding if we like it. But wait this is a beta patch. So I have waited over a year for the game we all bought to be fixed and the best that Ubi, Maddox can do is throw something against the wall to see if it sticks.

The game though not many people play the off-line campaign does not work. It crashes lock hangs and does all sorts if you are using a sound blaster card. This patch or beta release did not address any of the problems the we all currently have with this game.

This has got to be one of the best bait and switch techniques I have ever seen.

We should all pool our resources together and ask Oleg where the hell is the real patch. The game does not work so they get us talking about how they ripped the hurricane apart or the b239 is wild or, or ,or..... forget that. Where the heck is the PATCH? The patch we were promised.

This beta does not live up to anything promised and the game still crashes. I guess I don't have the minimum system. It's only a p4 2.5 Ghz with 1 gig of mem, a gforce4, intel chipset running at 533 Mhz, cooled by three thermaltake fans at 7000 RPM with a 1 pound copper heat sink and a thermaltake 6000 RPM fan.

So again I ask you... Where is the real patch.????????

right after you stop whining about the current patch.

so that may be still quite a while!

I tried to ask in ORR how long we would have to test the beta patch and got no response at all.

They will tell us whenever it suits them I guess.

You about as funny as Sept 11.

In fact freshness we will never get this patch because of silly little people like you. No point fixing anything if no one is complaining.

When you do make your snide little remarks it just shows how inept you are at facing reality. The reality is we got ripped off.

You can make all the comments you want but when you get down to it, no matter how much smoke you blow.

We got Ripped off.

It seems unnecessary to be so harsh as to respond that way to a harmless joke.Invoking the September 11 tragedy in this context might be considered poor taste.

Remember, we are playing a little game here! It's so we can have a bit of harmless fun, right? You might ask yourself: "Has anger improved my life? Can I drive across town without becoming enraged?"

Don't let your LastRites come before your time because of the destructive effects of anger. A dedicated gamer deserves better.

I have an Athlon XP 2000+ with 512MB RAM and a puny GeForce 4 MX420, yet the game runs great for me, and I have not experienced a crash since the patch (had some such problems before). Do keep in mind PCs unlike consoles can have an almost unlimited number of configurations, so it's hard to solve every problem for every possible configuration. I understand your anger at the crashes, and I agree you deserve to have the game you payed for in playable state. But like has been said before me, please don't include all of us in your complaint.
And might I also ask if you've bothered to make all the necessary steps to try and troubleshoot your problem? And if so, have you given Oleg & Co. all the information they need to fix your problem in the next patch?

LastRights,
I have half the system you are so fortunate to own,and I have no problems at all(ie.no crashes,lock-ups,stutters,etc.)Maybe you should check your settings and try a little tweaking. Then all that fancy equipment of yours might produce some decent fps, instead of just draining your checking account.

Thanks to a Middle East trip (coutesy Uncle Sam), I have the most system I could throw money at. But I still got crashes early on. Then, I broke away from FB long enough to realize it was happening in other games too. Turns out I had bad RAM. The graphics and gameplay seem fine now, but I do still have trouble with sound. The volume changes on its own, and some sounds drop out altogether from time to time. Changing settings in game sometimes helps, but there is no "happy" setting. I change one way when it acts up, then I change it back where it was when it acts up again. I've run The 512, the Audigy, and now the Audigy 2 since the original IL2. I'm now running hardware accel a notch down. It wouldn't hurt my feelings any if it worked better.

Over a year? FB is not over a year old.
I have been running IL2 and FB both from the first day it was released without any instability problems or crashes and from what I see in the tech forum the majority of the people here also don't have any crashes so it looks like you have a problem with your system.
If it was the game then we all would have had crashes don't you think?
Unless you have a different FB then we do since yours is over a year old.

I also played the campaign still in version 1.0 and it didn't crash once.
Post your dxdiag in the tech forum instead of whining over here because I am 100% sure that when the real patch is released the game is still going to crash while the rest of us are enjoying ourselves in the virual skies.

Over a year? Maybe your problems stem from the fact that you're playing an early alpha version of FB. Go buy the official version - you know, the one that was released six months ago.

- We should all pool our resources together and ask

Hmmmmmm...nah. I think I'll just play the game. By the way, pool our resources? How many resources would we need to pool, do you think, in order to ask a question?

Congratulations. My system's barely half that, and FB provides more enjoyment for me than anything else I've ever installed on it. By the way, have you ever done any commercial software development? Do you have any clue about what's involved?

Hmmm,...thats funny. I don't seem to have any problems with crashes, locks, or hangs. I have seen very few (maybe 2) threads here by posters complaining about these types of problems. And yes, I am using a Sound Blaster Live.

The patch addresses all the problems that are listed in the README file. Did you bother to read it,..probably not.

My system is exactly like yours except for the fans, (I have a custom setup) And most people here have significantly less powerful systems that have no problem running this game.
So,...anyone with even the smallest amount of computer knowledge could deduce that the problem exists within your system or (no offense) the monkey tapping on the keyboard. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

P.S. Some people really need to take a class to learn some "people skills", and learn how to present their problems and complaints to a community of others who would normally be glad to help someone sort through any problems they may be having getting a game to run.

Instead we seem to be increasingly faced with people who log on and act like a bunch of imature wankers.

Have a Nice Day /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

the game is fine. the patch has made it better and the hurricane is now like it was in history. a fine plane but certainly not one that could climb with a 109K4. jug needs to be able to roll still and tougher guns but aside from those two biased problems the game is perfect now. maybe fine tune the pitch on the 109s a little too.

the Hurricane has gotten closer & further away from what it is really like
it could never climb with any BF 109 B4 the patch RedDeath

i also notice how you mention the game being fine except for two planes you like not being as good as you want LOL

this game locks up on a lot of ppl offline ... it was far from " fine "

the patch is a step foward .... & they brought bugs foward with it

On my system the game works fine, especially so since the patch.

And my system is 800mhz Athlon GeForce 5200FX (128mb) + 384mb SDRAM

Of course I experience some missing sounds etc but am not overly concerned as that issue will be fixed.

Aparently you have no idea what rights ARE.
To call getting a patch that you seem obliged to get "A RIGHT" is rediculous. I'll alert the ACLU.

It IS being worked on. We WILL get a patch. Even YOU will get one.

Software manufacturers place disclaimers on their products stating there is no guarantee that said software will play nicely with all of your computer componants. WHEN you clicked yes you agreed to their terms, and indirectly entered into a contract with that company. So any forth coming patch is NOT a RIGHT.

Now, I know that if you have a problem there are many who would like to help you. Maybe one of us can steer you to a proper setting, or hardware advise.

hey badsight. your name suits you perfect.....quote from badsight....."i have some bugs addressed ( so much for FB v1.0 being fine RedDeath ) & now i have a whole lot more bugs"...... i said the game is now fine. post patch. not prepatch. Duh. yes i said it. Duh...p.s. prepatch hurricane with wep on and 120% fuel mix boost and above 2,000 meters at level 2 superchargers and using 85% prop pitch i could climb with every 109 in the game. and almost keep up with the K4. except if it went vertical then i would catch it. in my prepatch hurricane. again you have to use all four settings 120 fuel , wep on, superchargerlevel 2 over 2000 meters, and 85 proppitch. all at same time. try it. youll be amazed. i had almost every 109 ace in the game call me a cheater doing that from all the big squads. thats why i normally would just fly the hurri in a t and b fight when pilots whined about b and z ing. cuz if you b and z with hurri it was a ufo.

The problem is with Olegs support of drivers. The soundblaster portion of my system does not like Olegs code. Funny CFS3 runs at 160FPS and battlefield runs at 190FPS, but this piece of garbage runs great until I go kill something and then it dies. It has disabled my sound card twice.

Funny, many people here with a soundblaster card don't have your crash problem, myself included.

All the members in my Squadron also have a soundblaster card and I haven't heard a single one of them complain about FB crashing on them when they kill something.

There are sound issues with the current patch but crashing the game is not one of them.

Like I said before, even with the real patch it's most likely you still have your crash problem.

FB runs great on my system..I have yet to have one problem with crashes... If you feel you didnt get your money's worth then send the game back with a letter of complaint..or just shelve it like you have with other games that didnt measure up..(anyone doing PC games for any length of time has SOME games on thier shelves that didnt cut it and were played once or twice and shelved..../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ) I have a SB Audigy card on my XP1600 1.4GHZ, 266 FSB, 1GDDR, 9500Pro128 machine aside from the occasional stutter the sim runs like a top. I can play it for hours on end and only nature (sleep, head calls, stuff like that) can tear me away from it once I am in the zone. You may have some issues with your system. Do you defrag? Do you have back ground stuff running? I think Oleg & 1C did an excellent job with this sim and i challenge you to find a better sim for the price you paid for this. CFS3 still runs like absolute crap on my system..I cant even use it with my MSFFB stick...FB?>> Runs like the champ it is. You dont like it dont fly it bub....... no one is twisting your arm or putting a gun to your head. I think you may need the CFS3 IL2FB appreciation course...../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My sound always worked fine until the patch.
I have more stutters both online and off after the patch.
The patch was bad for me, but I have to use it if I want to play online. So he's not the only one that has a good reason to be annoyed. Just because your system runs 'perfect' is no reason to asssume those who are having problems should not voice their discontent. A patch that helps some while hurting others is not a good solution. Next patch when my sound works good again and yours is screwed up I'm sure you'll want to be heard with your complaint.

This is JimRockford. At the tone leave your name and message; I'll get back to you.

That's right JimRockford, some of those who posted about their systems running well now will probably have problems after the next patch, and they will voice their problems.

The difference, however, will be the way they do that. They'll probably start in the Technical Support forum. They're likely to use a much more civilised tone. I doubt any of these posters will accuse Oleg of seeking to deceive them, nor will they raise a hue and cry about rights they believe they have that do not, in fact, exist. They're quite likely, too, to avoid making claims that "all" of us are experiencing the same problem, especially when it's so clearly false.

The final difference will be the response they receive, from both other forum-goers and the development team.
