Just goofin around a bit tonight and started flying the BI-1. Quick Mission Builder, I started my altitude at 100 in Moscow and climbed until I ran out of gas. I was cruising at 27,850 when the fuel was done. I actually managed to bring that puppy back to earth (literally) and land it without a scratch. First time I noticed the landing gear on that rocket were sleds/skis for frozen surfaces. Pretty cool.

Anyway, all drug jokes aside... what is the highest you have ever been on this game? Again, talking about altitude here, folks. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I've heard that the P-47 is good at altitude, but this is ridiculous.

you can edit the *.mis file to start at any altitude you want. In this case, 1,000,000 meters. The plane doesn't fly very well though, more like a supersonic rock.

Exactly what DO you set the prop pitch for at that altitude? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Is that the earth or a black hole from across the Milky Way?

Where are the files that you edit for a Quick Mission? I found some .mis files but didn't feel secure enough in my knowledge to mess with them. I just want to start a mission with some wingmen at that height and watch them flip out. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I get the feeling the sturmovik tailgunner might really cut loose with the OHHH NOOOs.

i think a B1 with unlimmited fuel can climb to 50,000 metres or so ... there is some limit which is coded into the games flight modelling

My record is 46450m with a B1. I probably could have gone higher, but I ran out of fuel.

When you open the *.mis file for the mission you want to edit, you will see something like this.

[MAIN]
MAP Net2Summer/load.ini
TIME 12.0
CloudType 0
CloudHeight 1000.0
player r0100
army 1
playerNum 0
[Wing]
r0100
[r0100]
Planes 1
Skill 1
Class air.P_47D27
Fuel 25
weapons default
[r0100_Way]
NORMFLY 15532.58 23237.24 1000000000000.00 300.00
NORMFLY 30530.98 23935.79 1000000000000.00 300.00
[NStationary]
[Buildings]
[Bridge]
[House]

For the P-47 you can see the coordinates, altitude, and airspeed for the various waypoints. You can enter altitude and speed values that the FMB doesn't allow.

I am now accepting donations to buy the smilies a new home.
