Could Oleg possibly give a thought to doing a radar sim in place of bomb aimer for night fighter intercepts for the mosquito and Ju88. I'm sure it would be a heap of fun and something I would happily pay for. Thanks

look at your sig. That + radar = sexiest night plane ever.

Then you find out AI pilots and gunners see in the Dark, after your money and you have long parted ways hehehe http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

and theres exhaust flames etc, the sim's missing TONS of stuff for night ops

u could do inturder stuff in the FBVI mossie, and defense stuff too cos the radar on early ones often broke. same for beaufighter.

theres 2or 3 bombers ingame that could be raf bomber command
blehiems, and hte mossie IV and b24 (used in italy, looks abit like lanc). mossie wont be much fun for hte germans, because the night fighters (ju88 110) are gonna be hard pushed to even catch it.

Don't forget Turbinelight Bostons, if we could find how to attach those natty searchlights to the front of planes

Cool pingu, and...we have the red and green christmas tree bombing lights (static lights) that we can raise into the air...of course you can't see them past 2km. Hope they Patch that.

well in full mission builder you could set the targets to empty( so they couldnt fire back too early) or write a code to disable the rear gunner until really close), dont forget the targets very rarely fired back because they never saw it coming, in fact most of them though they had been hit by AA ( being hit by 4 cannons caused instant explosion usually). the challenge is in using the early radar in cloudy, bad weather. these early radars had a lot of ground clutter described as like a christmas tree. also it was not apparent if the target blips were in front, behind, coming towards or going away! a procedure turn effect on the blip was the only way to tell! unlike falcon 4 radar! in bad weather this was a real challenge, something i would love to simulate.particularly in Blenheims and the Mossie. Dont forget the Luftwaffe were so terrified of the RAF nt ftrs they would often dive into the ground attempting to escape preferring the risk of ground impact tothe 4 cannons of the mosquito.

yep, and theres other stuff u need for night ops that just isnt there, like raf bombers

gunner fire gives away the bombers position, imo its beyond the pf engine todo nighttime, to its full justice. im hoping BOB will have proper night time stuff, and photo recon, radar, rescue etc http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

really would love a glass nose mossie tho http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The main problem in darkness is ofcourse that the ai can see anyway and will open up with its guns and reveal its position.
This causes two things. U cant sneak up on a bomber offline and if u fly the bomber online your braindead Ai-gunners will reveal your position so so U cant escape or split-S without being easily detected by the gunflashes.
Also, When flying online , anyone can crank up their gamma on the monitor and turn night into day, thus u dont need the radar to find the enemy.

Nightmissions are interesting but cant be done practically as I see it.

Having been involved with a team who tried to make a nightbombing flight sim, it's bloody hard work. You need to incorporate all of the avionics etc etc etc etc. It requires a hell of a lot of man power and a hell of a lot of dedication for something like this to work. For those of you who remember the "Target for Tonight" project (which has know become 242 Squadron see my sig) this project is now dead as a result, plus a few more issues.

Also you would need a very powerful computer to run such a sim for aircraft avionics, radio beacons (oboe etc) radar systems both air and ground based plus much much more. Maybe in a couple of years or so we'll see something like it.

shame target for tonight is dead, but thanks for trying http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

hoping oleg has a open enough design to allow these in in BOB http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yes Wanna Have!

But Wanna Have BlueExhaust Flames For Night missions Much More!!!

Before and After Radar These flames would be the only Guidance for Flights In Formation At Night, And the Way to Find A target For Nightfighters Even If They Had Radar the Radaroperator would guide them in the general direction of the target And from there the Pilot would scan for the engine flames to find it For Real He Would have to see It Anyway in order to Shoot It Down!

well the RAF procedure was to make a visual id before firing to prevent friendly fire incidents, unlike some colonial cousins! The Radar Directors gave Tallyho Angels and Bearing info and then it was a matter of finding the target on radar, initially operated by the now redundant rear or turret gunner.Take off was often straight into thick cloud, rain, at night of course. Cool challenge,eh.
