When the patch(es) are released, will there be anything included to address the engine sounds of the aircraft? What I mean by this is, in the original IL-2 game the planes had distinctive and different engine noises. The Sturmovik had that deep, tractor-like growl and the Heinkel had its distinctive unsynchonised whirr, but in Forgotten Battles all the engines sound pretty much the same, and it's not as 'realistic' in my opinion. I'm not for a moment suggesting someone goes out and tries to record the individual engine sounds for the hundred-odd planes in the game, just perhaps rolling back the sound program to the previous version, or perhaps modulating the engine sounds in FB to produce a bit of variety. Just my two pence worth.

well in FB the Russian aircraft engines sound different from the German aircraft, at least on my computer but i noticed when playing the Hungarian campaign the 109-G6 has this "thumping noise", this is no doubt a bug and hopefully the first patch will have these issues resolved. the last time i checked, Oleg and company was working on mainly getting the patch out to fix these issues, and leaving the development of the new flyable A/C to other parties, so hopefully they will have it worked up soon. gooday sir.....8)

Actually Oleg has stated recently that the engine sounds on some of the planes were being redone/improved. Can't wait to hear them.

There is almost nothing i enjoy more in a sim than sounds.I miss the putt-putt of the I-16.I want to hear the carberator sucking on gas or whatever. Authentic sounds especially in the old planes is a joy.

Yes, i understand the team will address this.

Can someone tell me why I hear the P-39 engine sound before me and not behind me like in IL-2?

Cheers,

sucking on whatever sounds better than air/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .

the p-39 engine sound was transfered to the back in a later IL2 patch.

Well, that is indeed one of the most dissapointing things in IL2 and FB...
The sounds of the aircraft are not correct...the Fw190 sounds (almost) the same as a La5fn and in fb i was only happy with the Hurricane/P40 sound...

Why can't there be historically correct sounds in the game or at least give us the option to mod it ourself...i had real fun modding the CFS1,2 and 3 sounds to historically correct or atleast deafening roaring sounds, not M$ Lawnmowers...

I want to hear real Allisons, Rolls Royce's and other planes..and NO 2 Planes sound the same, even the 109 series, the later ones differed from the earlier ones by horsepower, and all kinds of other factors...

Consider me an OFFICIAL IL2/FB SOUNDWHINER!

Salute

Der Tote Baron a.k.a. SK_Black_Knight....

Why not make the sound files modifyable like the voice sound files. Then the individual can customize the sounds to fit their wishes. Personally I like them the way they are. I just use them for background noise anyway.

The only change I would make would be some popping and backfiring noises when you are at idle or in a no power decent.

And not just any old Spitfire either, but the rather beautiful (and my favourite) MH434, a Spitfire Mk IX. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
