View Full Version : Land in one piece, strike a pose

How hard would it be to Ctrl-E after landing successfully, and have the pilot strike a pose with his trusty aircraft, rather than run away from it like it is going to explode?

You know, jump out, place a hand on the fuse and give it a little pat, or something affectionate, and turn around like posing for the camera? That would be a great addition to the end of a successful mission. Its a little disheartening to see my pilot take a dive after a great three point landing...just a thought...

I believe your pilot is really kissing the ground after having the strong feeling you wanted to kill him..he he

I wasted an hour or two a week or so ago setting up a offline multiplayer with takeoffs disabled and deadsticking every plane in the game with max loadout and fuel and engine off

the 190a8 with mk103 pods is particularly tricky http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

a photo shoot standing next to the planes wold have been a good option to have

I think that instead of just flopping to the ground he should drop and do twenty pushups as punishment for wrecking yet another airplane.

would be nice if you started off in a hanger as the pilot and had to scramble to your plane each time you respawned. What I am looking for is a free wwiiol type of game with good graphics and realistic flight models. bf1942 is just too arcadish

lol, how about a way to steer your parachute and run aound shooting people with your Luger P-08 after bailing from your 109?

XyZspineZyX
06-18-2003, 12:08 AM
Or when you have bailed you can put expacks under your feet and blow yourself up to the enemy plane that just shot you down and stab him /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif j/k

Seriously, love the idea kajr /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

good idea, but i can already see the problems with it. let's say the game doesn't understand how much damage is damage enough. so you land back at your base and do a pose. the next time, you have 2 bullet holes in your plane and he thinks it's gonna blow and runs away. the next time, your plane's about to blow up and you eject, only to find your pilot wants to strike a pose next to your plane that's ready to explode. BOOM there goes your points, all because your pilot felt the need to stand next to a flaming plane.

lol, thats exactly what i was thinking when i read the post. maybe they could put a special animation for when the plane explodes while the pilot is patting it. finally, some gore in il2. haha i jk /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hmmm, the only time you would have to run from the plane is when it is smoking or already on fire. Seems reasonable to have this addition to the game.

I use the running thing when vulched on the airstrip
to get away from a burning or smoking AC.
I dont want to press "refly" or "disconnect"

It would be great though to have the pilot posing beside
ac burning with it, or jumping around fighting the flames
in his flyinggear? or patting the ac secs before explosion.?

but why not having a "succesfulLanding" key where the pilot
climbs out and saluts or something else in a calm satisfying manor.
or when made a emergeny landing in the field the pilot jumps out and waves to the opponents, showing, I made it?

Hey good idea!
I would also like the ground crew congratulate me if I returned as a victor in a dogfight!
It is so lonely when you returned on your airbase and not even your pet dog comes to greet you!
regards,
kees.

Btw If a sugestion likes these might be a problem for the sim, let Oleg or his team react what use is it to have fellow simmers critising other simmers idea's !?

ok.. it doesn't seem like a bad idea to do the pose after a landing, but it's also not a necessity. and i don't think oleg will spend the time doing something that's not necessary. also, we might be getting carried away with a few of these suggestions. having a crew greet you happily when you land and jump out? maybe, when pigs fly, the makers of FB will consider making you do a pose when you land.. but really, if you add that, you'll leave room for more things people want. if they add that, they'll feel compelled to add just about anything anyone says, and i don't think they'll do that. i don't think i'd want that either. how many key combinations would i need to learn when they add 'pilot pose', 'pilot with cheers', 'pilot smoking a pipe', 'pilot hanging out the window', 'pilot painting words on his plane', 'pilot sitting on the wing', etc.? i say we just ask for necessities.. it's bad enough we might only receive 1% of all the important things we ask.
