So, maybe I'd like to join a squadron. What do I do? I thought I was pretty good before I went online, but when I go online now it seems I get shot out of the sky before I can squeeze off a round. So maybe it would be more fun with a little team-spirit. Feels crazy really, I used to take on a couple of aces at a time in the old IL2, but now...jeeez. Anyway, any good ideas for me?

Squads are the only way to go. Check a bunch out and see what suits your style and flying times. Give us a look as well.

Fanden mate!

Phist is right. Squadrons are great. The Fightin' Irish blokes have enhanced my IL-2 experience a hundred fold. Come check us out at ...

If you find the right squad, it certainly can be.

You may want to start by heading over to the VEF homepage and taking a look at some of the squadrons there. Some favor certain types of aircraft. Finding one that matches your preferences could be a good place to start.

Check out their homepage, see if they have their own forum, etc. That's one good way to get a little insight into the personalities involved.

If they're a good bunch, they should let you trying flying a training mission or two with the squad to see if you and they are a good fit.

I hope you have access to Roger Wilco or TeamSpeak! Those are definitely required for squadron flying.

Check out the Sqn forum to see which groups are recruiting. Try to make contact with some of them in the air (as friend or foe), to see how and what they fly before committing.

Since this game is played by global participants, it will also be worthwhile to note the time of day that the Sqn is primarily online. This would maximize your benefit in playing with that group.

While some Sqn's are just free-for-alls, most have an organized structure with rank, duties and distinction. You'll probably need Roger Wilco or some other form of voice comm to join a group.

Good Luck (psst - check out the =353= Fighter Group)

your tactics will change and it will be easier to survive when your flying with a squad. you'll find its a lot easier when you have a wingman you can talk to.

Aha, well I don't have any form of voice communication, but it does sound like fun to fly with a team.
