I want to produce a variant of the IID that looks like the "Black Sea" boats. These guys were equipped with the standard 88, unlike the normal Type II.

Does anyone know if this can be done by modifying the CFG files in Ver. 1.4?

There are 2 conning towers for the IID; Type 1 has a single forward mounted 2cm AA, Type 2 has a forward and wintergarden mounted 2cm. I couldn't mount the 88 on the Type 1 conning towered boat without losing the AA gun.

The type 2 conning tower becomes avilable in 1943. It is possible to mount the 88 by inserting the line of script:

M01_00=1

in place of the line of script:

A01_40=6

for every year of the IID boat version for 1943, 1944, 1945 in the Basic cfg file.

You will also need ammo. There is a line of script called shell slots. For the 2cm boat there is the line:

ShellSlots=4

The value may need to be higher.

As I can't start a 43 career in a IID ( you are posted to a VII by default and cannot downgrade to a lesser sub) so I can't test it.

This is the best I can do at this stage.

Don't forget to save an unaltered copy of your Basic Config file before making any changes!

To test changes to late model subs, you don't always need a carrer. If the change is to the default model for that year all you have to do is start a single mission and select that sub with that year version.
