View Full Version : Server Admins: Ban the Tempest

MEGILE

The Tempest should be removed from online plane sets until the prop pitch exploit has been fixed in the next patch.
Just like the Bf-109 was banned from servers, the Tempest should follow to stop players using the exploit and cheating.

Ban the megile untill his top-gun exploitation is fixed in his next sig.

But seriously and I know this will reveal my noobishnessness but what is this expliot of which u speak.

Megile, pay attention!

It's perfectly OK for an Allied plane to have the prop-pitch exploit.(won teh war)

It is a sign of developer bias and community dishonesty only when the 109 has this exploit.

Haven't you been reading the forums man?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I fly both red and blue, and I wouldn't want to see it banned. When I'm in a D9 I really enjoy fighting a Tempest, it makes such a change from a Spit. Even if the Tempest is "cheating", it's probably more of a true-to-life representation of D9 vs Tempest 11lb combat. In this respect, I really don't mind if the person I am fighting uses this exploit - just makes it more of a challenge.

I'm not the sort of person to use an exploit, so if it gets banned I get punished for something I wouldn't do.

Its funny how when people playing this game do things that real pilots never did, people cry out "EXPLOIT!!!" Many things come to mind here...Ramming, red side kamikaze attacks on parked blue planes, using your landing gear as airbrakes to pull the old Maverick, etc...

To these people, shut up and play the game. If you cant deal with a challenge go play dodgeball with all the other 6 year olds.

How people get away with posting such utter cr@p topics is beyond me.

I second that, Megile.

And, while they're at it, I do hope they will ban anything with unsync'd .50s as they cause terrible lag.

On UK Dedicated we have a number of maps built around the Tempest, so a blanket ban is just not feasible. Sorry.

Ramming was a real tactic. Soviet pilots used the famous "taran' attack. There is even a documented purposeful air to air ramming victory performed by Parker Dupouy (hope I spelled that right) of the Flying Tigers. His guns were jammed, so he sheared off a Ki-43's wing with his own. The Oscar crashed; Dupouy was able to safely land with 3 or 4 feet of his wing missing. There's a great painting of the event called "One the hard way"

here's the painting:
http://www.oldgloryprints.com/One%20the%20Hard%20Way.htm

Both red and blue pilots use the kamikaze on parked planes, you make it sound as if one side would never do that

There are airplanes in this sim which, in real life, used landing gear as airbrakes. This does not exclude fighters (F4U). Mav had nothing to do with their use http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's understandable that Tempest pilots would defend their exploit... you should learn from the blue guys with the BF109 exploit, and report it to Oleg.

WTF!

I cant belive this sort of topic, it reminds me of some book I was forced to learn about involving witch hunting in early high school. Prop pitch... Im on and off it so hard it would make new users sick. I just use it like I use my motoX bikes gearbox, simple as that.

Come on people its all about energy/speed, weather your in a P40C, or a Dora D9 and weather you 'ham on' your prop pitch or pi$$ around with it. GET BUSY OR GET DEAD, YOUR DOING HUNDREDS OF MILES AN HOUR!

Or am I thinking of something completely differant?

I actually knew about this exploit before Il-2 had even been designed back in 1984.

I was sitting on the bog and I noticed static in the air followed by Oleg's disembodied head materialising in front of me. In a voice not dissimilar to that you will find 'God' with in a Cecil B deMille movie, he boomed, "Behold, child...for thine Tempest will have a prop pitch exploit" before promptly disappearing.

I just put it down to a hallucination brought about by a particularly heavy chicken jalfrazee the night before.

Stanford: If someone found an exploit for the FW190A5 which enabled the pilot to maintain a sustained 360 turn time of 1s coupled with an ability to fly at Mach 3.6 (just by repeatedly hitting the manual 'gear up' combo), would it also not be removed from maps?

Well that's because the P51 has an unrealistically high elevator authority and because of the lack of proper compression that even the "holy" Mustang had...

Fix it.

In the meantime we should ban all planes that have the following exploitable capabilities:

- guns
- engines
- retractable landing gear
- monoplane wings
- wings
- pilots

Only then will multiplayer online be without any exploits or cheaters!

The same way people get away with posting such utter cr@p responses I guess...

BTW... Ramming? A valid tactic... risky and often a last ditch effort.... but Soviet pilots did indeed ram.. and although many of them did not survive the tactic... many of them did.. and some did it more than once.
Kamikaze attacks on parked planes? Well not too many allied pilots did it raguably... a few did.. when they knew they were going to buy the farm and wanteds to take some of the enemy with them.... but for the most part of course.... Kamikaze attacks .. by any name... was a Japanese thing.
Lastly.. the gear as airbrake thing? Though not a common tactic... it was done with success at least once that I remember reading about.. I wish I could pull the reference...... but the pilot said that it was a split second decision.... and when he looked over his shoulder and saw how fast the bandit was gaining he did it because he saw the attitude of his opponents plane.. and he also knew he was going so fast he (the bandit) would only have one shot if that ..... and hopefully he would try more to avoid the collision.... than take the shot.. which is exactly what happened.

Correctamundo. I believe there is a 'elevator authority pool' from which pairs of planes may take their elevator response.

In the current case, the P51 and 109 are paired.

Paired total pool (z) = P51 response (x) + 109 response (y)

After writing a few scripts for Matlab which I fed through a PDP-11 simulator running on an Intel 432 development system, I concluded that the ratio of x and y was:

99:1
