Good stuff, seems to agree with most of what I've read. The proportion of LL aircraft to total soviet production was never more than about 20% or so, dropping off to around 10% by the end of the war. Apparently by far the most useful gear was the telephone cable and trucks - not as glamorous, but logistics is always the important thing.

-- And the most valuable of item of all: gold braid to
-- decorate their Soviet uniforms

Interesting story this. 1930s Soviet military officer uniforms were barren, as military pride was brutally repressed for political reasons. The WAR changed all this of course, and the Soviets needed something to decorate officer uniforms in a most Tsarist manner. They had never bothered to develop any fancy uniforms and so needed the gold braid.

Nice article. Thanks for the link.

Quite a coincidence. I just started to visit the wargamer from time to time. Such a good website.
