Hi Folks,

Just got on this forum to inform you guys that my bosses Pat and Jade are going to give a conference at the International Game Developers Association (IGDA.org) on next-gen gameplays and production pipelines. This is for all the Montrealers on the forum as this conference will be held at la Société des arts technologiques in Montreal. You can count on seeing new stuff from AC down there...only... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

IGDA next week meeting (http://www.igda.org/montreal/next.html)

For those living in a cave who haven't seen the new Blog video on gamespot (kidding), here's a link for you all. This video is a tour of the Assassin's creed dept part#1

It's 3 provinces over but its SOOO close, I can almost taste it *starts licking the monitor*...CURSES!!!!!1111 Ahh what sadness to be an aspiring computer science student only to be denied what may be the most inspiring presentation in a lifetime. Man, you Ubisoft guys (and a gal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) should make presentations to universities all over Canada (specifically to the U of S *hint**hint*) highlighting what it takes to get into the gaming industry.

Photos and videos of the presentation are strictly prohibited.

Damn. I wonder if they'll have an official release vid on the website or something though.

I'm glad to see you're one of my future co-worker http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ubisoft is already going in university campuses to recruit and inform student about the gaming industry's benefits.
Make sure you guys check this link on a regular basis, this way you'll be aware of which campus Ubisoft is going to visit

It's about game design for next-gen using Assassin's Creed as an example. I'm sure you'll get a better idea on what you can expect in AC. But hey... we got to keep some stuff secret 'til release... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif You might see some new screens and stuff... but I'm not in the loop about what will be shown. Sorry!

No... I'm not the one... It's an awesome artist named [Censored] http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif (not sure if I'd like to mention his name). He's just incredible, him and his team... I'm working on the architecture.

that still is a job to be proud of...they said that you guys were going to recreate actual architecture from that same period...that has me amazed too...from screenshots it seems like u are very very detailed in your work and im very impressed...i was also wondering that if you work on the architecture that if you also had to place all the interactive objects...and i read in game informer that it was supposed to be that every 20 or something meters in the game world had some way to interact with the enviorment...it was something that also sparked my interest in the game

If its not to much to ask, how long have you been 3D modelling? Cause I'm kinda getting frustrated in it even though I've only been at it for about 3 months or so. Also, any advice would be much appreciated. Thx.

We might have to go PT for that as this might not be the purpose of this website?! Anyway I have been modeling for a little over 4yrs http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. I don't belive that computer science, as you mentionned earlier, is the path for a future modeler/artist. Traditional art and architecture studies might be more appropriate, in my opinion. An advice now... the good old: "do some tutorials at the beginning". Some tutorials available are made by crazy dudes that give their own tricks and feature in a modeling software. You can use a tool in many way, and for different purpose. Buy yourself a bible of Max/Maya/XSI and go through it, learn the available tools. Consider going to a 3d school in addition to art courses. Choose only one software to learn the basics of modeling and then consider learning the other softs. There is no secret... no, "one button do the trick" unfortunately... Check other artists
