Has this happened to you?

Last night I started a P-39 mission which took me deep into enemy territory. My AI squad and I had an intense dog fight with a squadron of Japanese fighters. The time I put in tracking and patiently stalking the enemy seemed like hours and then finally gratification of watching my enemy's plane crash and burn. It was a very intense mission so much so I didnt know if I was going to have enough fuel for the return trip home. On the way back to HQ I slowly started gaining altitude just in case I ran out of fuel and needed to glide the rest of the way. Well I made it all the way back to my HQ with just enough fuel, I'm just about to make a perfect landing when all of a sudden the screen freezes. My heart stops and then just as frustration and fear sets in the screen unfreezes and my plane is skidding accross the runway. For a split second I am thinking "**** that sucks I just spent 1.5 - 2 hours accomplishing this mission and now this, but at least I can say I survived" and then all of a sudden I slide right into a parked bomber...KABOOM! I died! Holy cow I was sooo pissed.

Welcome to the club. I'd suggest... more RAM!!! Only thing worse than your rig killing you is your A.I. squaddies shooting you down or running into you...

Doesn't sound very historically accurate mate, what with that screen freezing bit. Can't imagine too many real WW2 pilots experiencing that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Happened to me all the time on the Gulf of Finland map; any mission going over 43 minutes (actual time; I worked around it by taking off & then 'warping' until enemy contact on the long missions) led to a crash because a message 'xyz' couldn't write to memory location 'qrs'. I had a Gig of RAM, which I thought should be adequate.

I'd crash to desktop, get a query from Windows asking if I'd like to report this problem, and when I did, they'd blame Sun Systems' java runtime...

It can be a vicious cycle.

cheers

Is this a problem with the new patch? Or is it really lack of RAM ... if so.. RAM of the video card or system RAM? I noticed some minor freezes now and then online.. more than usual.. many others said it was happening to them... what has changed? There should be a fail safe that doesn't allow anything out of RAM when within 100m of an enemy or on final http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I dont think RAM is a problem. I'm using 2GB of RAM and a 256 MB 6800 GT Video card.
