The game ran fine with the nVidia 56.64 and 61.76 Win ME drivers (GeForce4 Ti 4800). With 66.94 it plays the opening movies choppily with tearing before locking up at the game menu (unless a key is pushed or the mouse clicked, in which case it will likely just lock where its at). Rolling back the driver fixes it. Unfortunately, I want to use my new GeForce 6600 GT AGP card which needs the 66.94 Win ME Driver.

Is anyone else successfully or unsuccessfully running Myst IV with the nVidia 66.94 Win ME driver and, if so, what is your experience with the driver?

I've been fighting the same problem. Windows ME with Geforce2 MX with 61.76 drivers. The only difference is neither new or old drivers will work. It locks up the instant it starts. I've been working with this bulletin board and ubi support. There best advise so far is to to update to Windows XP or even download the 66.93 drivers that are for windows XP. In other words,no help at all. I'm taking my unit to my local shop after christmas. Might just sell the stupid game on ebay. I'm done buying UBI software. Take a look at my board(m4 crashes on startup)

In the case of the 66.94 driver, it was released after Revelation was certified Gold and released to stores, so if it's crashing the application it's nVIDIA's fault, not Ubi's, for failing to ensure application compatability. I've experienced a number of problems running Uru on my FX 5600 under nVIDIA's latest set of drivers (basically anything in the 60's), and have rolled myself back to the 56.74 drivers, which have so far run both games just fine with no difficulties. I realize that in the case of the 6600 GT that's not going to work and I apologize my help isn't very helpful, ubeslow, but I posted in here in the hope that it might help sllimb.

Either way, I would still try to contact nVIDIA about their latest drivers causing application lock-ups, or contact Ubi and let them know they need to talk with nVIDIA.

Thanks Alahmnat. I have already done that. Ubi tech support is mulling over my dxinfo and msinfo and nVidia says a new Win ME driver is due "shortly" ("a matter of weeks").

Alahmnat sorry you cannot get it to run at all. I agree with Alahmnat, the 56.64 Win ME driver was the last stable driver.

Opps, that's sorry sllimb60 that you can't run the game at all.

May be late but I am running 66.94 on ME.

Aside from my install problems and Missing gears and crystals (see post earlier today), version 66.94 seems OK, unless 66.94 is why I have no gears and crystals.

So, a question is, can I run my 53.04 version and see what happens, or is it too far back?

Gdrane, I posted a response to your gear/crystal post. I don't know about 53.04, but as I said above, I have had good results with 56.64. If you try them, let me know your results.

Thanks ube...

After some thinking, which hurts, it seems the video driver is probably ok since I have observed no viewing problems other than the ocassional triangulations in sky scenes.

I will download the other driver and do some more thinking.

Installed NVIDIA 61.76 and all is well.

I noticed that after installing 66.94 some applications were slower to load. I did not think much of it. But with 61.76, the slowness is gone. Food for thought.

I have solved my problem by replacing the GeForce 6600 GT (that is currently unsupported in Win ME by nVIDIA) with a Radeon X800 Pro. The Catalyst Win ME drivers work very well. Overkill, but my time and frustration have a price (a price that does not include the time of rebuilding my system around XP).

Right click my computer, click properties, click device manager, click display adapter. Then if you want to know what drivers you have: click driver, click driver details. Good luck http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
